"Pokémon Shipwreck" September 30th, 2008 Dogasu @ 07:30 JST -- So I've got a new comparison up, everyone: "Pokémon Shipwreck." Unlike the others I've been doing, this one is actually brand new for this site, so it should be more exciting than the others have been. It also looks like Youtube slash Shogakukan's taken down my videos off YouTube, so I've uploaded them onto another site instead. It's kind of annoying, but I really can't say I'm surprised at all. While I personally don't see the harm in posting clips that are barely under a minute in length, I also recognize that Shogakukan has every legal right to keep videos of the series that they own off the Internet. I have no idea when I'll have the next comparison up, but I'm betting it'll be sometime in October. Just a hunch. My spell-checker thinks I mean "ginger" when I type in "ganguro" September 27th, 2008 Dogasu @ 18:00 JST -- Here's "Battle Aboard The St. Anne" for you guys. I actually didn't have to do that much to the old comparison, but there are a few things that I missed the first time around, so be sure to give it a look over. The next comparison, "Pokémon Shipwreck!," is one that I actually haven't done before, so I'm actually pretty excited about finally doing a Kanto episode comparison that I've never done before. I forgot to mention this in the last update, but Toonami, the programming block on Cartoon Network that's been focused on "the best action cartoons" for the past eleven and a half years or so, was finally canceled this past weekend. I say "finally" because, quite frankly, the block's been circling the drain for years now. For us Pokémon fans, Toonami was where the first three movies made their network premiere. It was also the block that showed the American debut of Pokémon Chronicles and would also have the occasional Battle Frontier reruns. Online, the Toonami Jetstream service streamed episodes from various seasons of the main series, with the Master Quest season currently airing on the not-yet-canceled video service. Go to this page and scroll down a bit to watch some of the trailers Toonami has made for Pokémon over the years. "Electric Shock Showdown" September 23rd, 2008 Dogasu @ 23:15 JST -- So the revamped comparison for "Electric Shock Showdown" is up. Part of the reason it took so long to finish was because I went and made up a video (and a YouTube account) to help prove that one of the edits made to the episode actually happened. That video took me a while to do since I took the audio from the Japanese version, synched it up to video taken from the DVD, and then added my own subtitles to the thing. All of which I had never done before and had to figure out how to do via various online tutorials. Hopefully, that YouTube account will come in handy for future comparisons. I've also made a small update to the "Mystery At The Lighthouse" comparison. I've also added the cover art for the third and fourth volumes of Diamond & Pearl and for Volumes 15 and 16 of the All-Stars discs to the DVD Guide. I've also made a new entry to V-neck kid's section over on the Recycled Characters page. Finally, I have two more episode titles up in the List of Anime Episodes. No idea when I'll get "Battle Aboard the St. Anne" up. I've studying for the JLPT Level 2 this year, so I really should be hitting the books more often than I have been if I want to have any chance of passing the thing. "Mystery At The Lighthouse" September 17th, 2008 Dogasu @ 23:26 JST -- Sorry for the long wait everybody. I had a friend unexpectedly come in from out-of-town this weekend, so I was busy not being antisocial and therefore didn't have much computer time. Plus, I was busy not playing Platinum and was instead absorbed by Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People Episode 2 - Strong Badia the Free. Good times. So without further ado, here's "Mystery At The Lighthouse." I've also gone through the comparisons for the first twelve episodes and cleaned a few things up - mainly, wrong episode titles ("Charmander - The Stray Pokémon," not "Charmander--the Lost Pokemon"), misspellings (Viridian, not Veridian), translations (I went through the summary of "Here Comes The Squirtle Squad" and sort of translated what gundan means), and misinformation (Joy is the first person to tell us Misty's name in the dub, not the narrator). I've also added a note about an old anime that's referenced in "The Path to the Pokémon League." There's actually more I want to do with those earlier comparisons (i.e. actually translate the Japanese Rocket-Dan motto), but I'll hold off on that until I get to the 26-episode mark or something. I've also added new titles to the List of Anime Episodes. I hope to have "Electric Shock Showdown" up in a few days. For realz. "Here Comes The Squirtle Squad" September 13th, 2008 Dogasu @ 11:45 JST -- First thing's first: here's the redone comparison for "Here Comes The Squirtle Squad." This one took me for-freakin'-ever to do because 4Kids just gave me so much to talk about, so be sure to check it out when you get a chance. As always (and by that, I mean "as of a few days ago"), you can leave feedback in this thread over on Bulbagarden. I've also deleted a mistake I had made in the previous comparison about Daisuke's name. Whoops! Pocket Monsters Platinum comes out today here in Japan, and you know what? I do not think I could be any more apathetic about this release. I haven't touched my copy of Pearl since April (and before that, October), and a rehash of that game isn't going to suddenly motivate me to pick it up again. In any case, this will be one of the few Pokemon sites out there that isn't going to be flooded with Platinum stuff over the next week or so, so if you want to learn more about the game, this won't be the place to go. "Mystery of the Lighthouse" (which shouldn't take me nearly as long to do a write-up on as the Zenigame episode did) should be up before the end of the weekend. "Charmander - The Stray Pokémon" September 10th, 2008 Dogasu @ 23:31 JST -- So here's "Charmander - The Stray Pokémon" for you guys. I would have had this up last night, but the video store where I eventually went to rent a copy of the Doraemon movie (you'll see when you look at the comparison) was closed by the time I got around to it last night. There's a thread over on Bulbagarden dedicated to this site, so if you want to discuss your opinions about this or any other comparison that shows up on this site, that'd be the place to do it. I've also added four new Japanese titles to the List of Anime Episodes. I've also fixed a mistake on my list of Battle Frontier episodes - I had "Wheel Of Frontier!" listed as "Wheel Of Fortune!" Whoops! I've been trying to pay close attention to things like punctuation and capitalization in the episode titles for the past two years or so (fun fact: most Pokémon USA episode titles capitalize every single word and also end in exclamation marks), but I guess that goof-up escaped my notice somehow. I've already started on the "Here Comes The Squirtle Squad" comparison, so hopefully I'll have that up sooner rather than later. "Bulbasaur and the Hidden Village" September 6th, 2008 Dogasu @ 16:03 JST -- Well...it's a good thing I added -ish after "tomorrow-ish" in my last post since me updating on September 1st obviously didn't happen. A lot of unexpected real world stuff got in the way of me being able to finish the comparison in addition to the fact that Kanto comparisons just take longer to finish because of all the paint edits they have. But, it's finally all done. I've got the revised comparison for "Bulbasaur and the Hidden Village" finished. Hope you learn something!! I've also updated the List of Anime Episodes with some new dub titles and the page for the Tenth Anniversary DVDs (also known as the All-Star DVDs) with informaton on the pokemon being featured on Volumes 15 and 16. This information comes from the RightStuf site, by the way. Finally, I wanted to remind everyone that Pokémon Diamond & Pearl Adventure! Volume 2 is out in the U.S. I couldn't find the first volume when I went back to the States over the summer, but hopefully you guys won't have as tough of a time trying to find this series as I did. It looks like Volume 3's coming out on February 3rd, 2009, so be sure to mark your calendars for that. My goal is to have "Charmander - The Stray Pokemon" up within the next three days. That's a realistic expectation...right...?
