"Smells Like Team Spirit!" August 31st, 2008 Dogasu @ 16:30 JST -- I kind of went on an unexpecdted little trip yesterday, so I didn't get a chance to update like I would have liked to. So without further ado, here's the comparison for "Smells Like Team Spirit!" Like I said a few updates ago, this will be my last "current" comparison for a while. Starting tomorrow (-ish), I'm going to be concentrating more on getting some of the older Kanto comparisons finished because they're more interesting for me to write and, I assume, more interesting for you guys to read. I mean...when it comes to modern-day episodes, there are enough people out there who have seen the Japanese version who can tell you, right away, whether or not something was missing or mistranslated or whatever. The same can't be said for some of the older stuff, now can it? I'm not sure how many I'm going to do before going back and working on Battle Dimension, but I'll probably at least get the first 26 episodes or so out of the way before returning to work on more PUSA stuff. Speaking of the newer dub, Cartoon Network is having a Pokémon DP Battle Dimension marathon tomorrow. So be sure to check that out if you've missed a few episodes here and there. The second Mystery Dungeon anime special is also going to be airing (only...four months too late :P), so you guys have that to look forward to as well. "Glory Blaze!" August 29th, 2008 Dogasu @ 17:41 JST -- New comparison time! Today's update is the second part of the Tag Battle tournament, "Glory Blaze!" I really want to have "Smells Like Team Spirit!" up tomorrow so I can start working on Kanto stuff again. Can't wait. Also, TV-Tokyo has updated their Pocket Monsters site with a new layout and a nice, big splash image. Back from the dead August 28th, 2008 Dogasu @ 01:12 JST -- Hey, remember when I used to update this website? First thing's first: I'm back in Japan now. My summer vacation in America was quite excellent; so good, in fact, that I didn't have time to sit in front of my computer and update my website. I also had a few technical difficulties that didn't really help things, either. While I was back home, I did try to pick up some of the English language manga that had been released since my last trip home, but, unfortunately, they were nowhere to be found. Anyone else have that problem? Now that vacation time is winding down and I'm getting back into my routine, I'm able to focus more on this site. I have the rest of this week off, though, so I'd like to try to update this site once a day for the next few days to sort of make up for my extended absence. The first update is the comparison for "Tag! We're it...!" Fun fact: I actually wrote the mini-rant in there about the English names well before I joined a similar thread on Bulbagarden popped up. I've also added some information about "Sandshrew's Locker!" provided by a number of e-mails that have been sent to me. My plan is to do the next two comparisons and finish out the tenth season before jumping into...Indigo League comparisons. Because, quite frankly, these Diamond & Pearl comparisons are kind of boring. They're boring for me to write and, I suspect, are just as boring for you guys to read. All I get to talk about nowadays are dialogue mistranslations and music edits, and there aren't enough of the former to make it worth your time. As for the latter...? Well...you don't need a Dogasu's Backpack episode comparison to tell you that the background music in the dub is awful. A lot of you have figured that out for yourselves -_^ I do plan to eventually go through Battle Dimensions and do comparisons for those episodes (I do have plenty to say about them, after all). Just...not right now. I've also updated the DVD Guide to include the box art for Volumes 13 and 14 of the All-Stars volumes (and the release dates for Volumes 15 and 16) as well as the second Battle Frontier box set. The latter is pretty interesting because it features Brock, of all characters, front and center while May, Max, and their pokemon fill out the rest of the thing. It's a surprisingly fair piece of box art after the way the first set completely ignored everyone who wasn't Ash. Finally, I've added some new Japanese and English titles to the List of Anime Episodes. I'll work to have the comparison for "Glory Blaze!" up for you guys tomorrow. In the meantime, I recommend you check out the Pokemon AMV that Vegetto EX submitted for Otakon '08. You can check it out on YouTube and, if you really like it, can download a high quality version of the video here. Absolutely amazing. I helped give ideas for some of the clips used and am therefore a bit biased, but STILL. Check it out.
