Main Feature Spoiler-Free Synopsis
|
Once every thousand years "The Millenium Comet" is said to appear for a
span of seven days, and it's at "Pokémon Park," a traveling
circus where you can see this comet, where Satoshi and his friends meet
a magician named Butler. During one of his magic shows, Butler's
assistant Diane is holding a "Sleeping Cocoon" when all of a sudden
Masato starts hearing a voice coming from the cocoon. That voice ends
up belonging to Jirachi, a Mythical Pokémon who wakes up once
every thousand years and goes around granting people's wishes. Before
long Jirachi awakens from its thousand year slumber, right there in
Masato's arms! Butler is indifferent to the excitement of Satoshi and
his friends as he plots to use Jirachi for his own gains...
Pikachu Mini Movie Spoiler-Free Synopsis
|
Nyarth is put in charge of looking after the Rocket-Dan's secret base
while everyone else is away. He gets excited at the thought of getting
on the Boss' good side by using the "Monster Dancing Ball," a special
wand that allows Nyarth to control the actions of other Pokémon!
Pikachu and its friends, meanwhile, stumble upon this secret base and
decide to help rescue the "Whisper Pokémon" Gonyonyo who have
been trapped there! Hijinks ensue when the Monster Dancing Ball is
suddenly activated and causes everyone to start to dance! Things take a
turn for the worse when Dogohmb and Runpappa join in!! What's going to
happen to the secret base that Nyarth's been put in charge of?

In Japan, 280,000
advanced
tickets were sold after only two days. On its opening weekend,
the
movie opened in 309 theatres and earned $3,755,347, ranking at Number
Three.
Tomiko Suzuki,
the voice
actor who provided Jirachi's voice, died on July 7th, 2003, shortly
before
the film's Japanese premiere date. Coincidentally, July 7th is
the Tanabata holiday
in Japan, a holiday that celebrates the two stars Altair and Vega
coming
together after being separated all year by the Milky Way. It's
customary
for people to plant bamboo trees on this day and hang tanzaku
(little
slips of paper with wishes written on them) on these trees. Not
only
does Ms. Suzuki's last movie have some basis on the holiday, but the
character
she voiced (Jirachi) has these tanzaku hanging from its
ears!
"The
Dancing Pokémon Secret Base" is the first mini-movie not to
feature
Togepy.
