The following is an image gallery that documents all of the edits made from the theatrical version of Mewtwo Strikes Back! to the Kanzenban version. Screenshots from the original theatrical version, taken from the Japanese LaserDisc release, are on the left while ones from the Kanzenban version, taken from the DVD release, are on the right. Click on each image to view a larger version.


This whole shot got reanimated. Takeshi and Joy have been redrawn and are digitally colored while the background behind them is now computer animated. The camera moves around a little bit faster in the Kanzenban as well.







This shot of Saihorn's point of view as it charges toward Mewtwo has been CG-ified.

The gate's been colored in white.



As the camera zooms in, we see that the entire room's a 3D model in the Kanzenban. In the original theatrical version this was just the camera zooming in on a still image.

Light from the room where everyone's at can be seen coming from the entrance to the stadium in the Kanzenban.



This is probably the shot that's the most different between the two versions. Nothing about this is the same!
