The following is an image gallery that documents all of the edits made from the theatrical version of Mewtwo Strikes Back! to the Kanzenban version. Screenshots from the original theatrical version, taken from the Japanese LaserDisc release, are on the left while ones from the Kanzenban version, taken from the DVD release, are on the right. Click on each image to view a larger version.


The theatrical version starts with Mewtwo asking itself who it is. The Kanzenban starts like ten minutes earlier with the whole Birth of Mewtwo stuff, so the "Pikachu Project '98" text got placed over that instead.




The animation of water rippling is added to what was mostly a still shot in the original version.







These mountains got completely redrawn.







The tubes in the foreground get moved around so we can get a better look at Mewtwo.
