Manga Guide: December 2024 Updates

Dogasu @ 12:53 JST -- I've been a bit under the weather lately so these are coming out later than I had wanted, but here are the Manga Guide updates for this month!


Pocket Monsters Special, aka "Pokémon Adventures" in the West. In this month's chapter Violet goes up against Meloco and her super speedy Starmobile. Can his Achigator find a way to defeat her?

Pokémon Card Game Yarouze~!, the "Pokémon tries its hand at a Yu-Gi-Oh! type manga" series. In this month's chapter Retto faces off against a player using the recently released High Class Pack: Terestal Fest ex set. Can Retto's Eevee ex evolutions stand up to his opponent's barrage of Terastal Pokémon?


Pokémon 4-Koma Gakuen, one of the current series of Pokémon related comic strips. In this month's collection the Pokémon students stage a talent show.

Kousaku Anakubo's Pocket Monsters, the longest running Pocket Monsters manga in existence. In this month's entry Pippi appears to be an uncharacteristically generous tipper?


Rumor Guide:  "Ash's starter was originally going to be Clefairy, not Pikachu"

Dogasu @ 00:39 JST -- There's this idea that's been floating around that in the Pocket Monsters animated series, Satoshi's starter Pokémon was going to be Pippi, not Pikachu. It's one of those things people just kind of accept without really thinking too much about, but is there any truth to this? A topic like this is perfect for this site's Rumor Guide and so for today's update I've got a new entry "Ash's starter was originally going to be Clefairy, not Pikachu."


I pull in research from all over the place -- books, magazine articles, interviews, etc. -- a lot of which has never been published in English before and so I know you'll learn something new here. Manga Guide: Kousaku Anakubuo's Pocket Monsters, Pokémon 4-Koma Daihyakka

Dogasu @ 09:39 JST -- I've got two more manga chapter summaries to wrap up this site's coverage of all the Pocket Monsters related manga that came out in November 2024.


Kousaku Anakubo's Pocket Monsters is back after an unannounced two month hiatus with a new two page chapter. Can Pippi get in shape with its exercise waist trainer belt?

Pokémon 4-Koma Daihyakka, that other collection of four panel gag comics, had its newest chapter printed in the issue of Pokémon Fan that went on sale last Friday. In this issue's chapter the Pokémon all play a game of dodgeball with mixed results.

The next chapter of Kousaku Anakubo's Pocket Monsters is due to come out December 29th while the next chapter of Pokémon 4-Koma Daihyakka is scheduled to come out in the next issue of Pokémon Fan when that goes on sale February 28th, 2025.
