Director Yuyama Kunihiko's Third Location Scouting Report
March 22nd, 2014

Dogasu @ 12:06 JST -- The official website for The Cocoon of Destruction and Diancie has updated with the third entry in its weekly Location Scouting report, so I translated it and added it to the Location Scouting page.  They don't really reveal much of anything in today's installment but I still think it's kind of interesting to see this kind of behind-the-scenes look.

The Rideau Canal

To all you Canadian fans out there, how do you feel about your country being used as the model for this year's movie for a second time?

I've also corrected a few errors throughout the movie's page thanks to the eagle eyed fans over on this site's Facebook page.

"The Cocoon of Destruction and Diancie"
March 21st, 2014

Dogasu @ 05:43 JST -- The school year's coming to a close so I'm finally getting some free time to work on this site.  This morning's update is all about getting caught up on this summer's movie The Cocoon of Destruction and Diancie.

The Cocoon of Destruction and Diancie

Here's what's been updated:

Diancie's been added to the List of Pokemon.  I've also tweaked my romanization of Meleecie to match Diancie's romanization more closely.

Diancie

I've added summaries for both the main film and the Pikachu short to the main page for The Cocoon of Destruction and Diancie.

The Cocoon of Destruction and DianciePikachu, What is This the Key To?

I've added character bios for both the humans and pokemon who will be appearing in the film.  Yamadera Kou'ichi has been in every single Pocket Monsters movie ever and Nakagawa Shouko has been in every Pocket Monsters film since the Diamond & Pearl days, so it's likely they'll be showing up in this one as well.  What characters do you think they'll play?

A page has been created detailing the event pokemon coming out to help promote the movie and the voting process that led to Darkrai being chosen as the pre-order ticket bonus.

Darkrai

(Also, I totally called Darkrai being the one chosen back in February)

Finally, I've translated the interview with the movie's director Yuyama Kunihiko that's up on the official website
as well as the two location scouting reports that have been added so far.

I think that should about do it!  A new location scouting report is likely to be posted sometime tomorrow so I will try to have that translated as soon as I can.

There's a really awesome concert going on today that I'm only just now finding out about
March 8th, 2014

Dogasu @ 08:13 JST -- I really, really wish I hadn't just found out about this yesterday.  If I had known about it earlier I would have tried to make plans to attend.

The Legend of RPG

The Legend of RPG is a concert being held later today by the Japanese Philharmonic Orchestra the features performances of background music from various RPG series.  And as you might have guessed from the fact that you're hearing about this on a Pocket Monsters fansite, music from our favorite monster collecting series will be featured as well.  Here's what the concert's official site says they'll be playing:

From Pocket Monsters
"Opening" (Pocket Monsters Red / Green)
Pocket Monsters Battle Medley:

"Zekrom & Reshiram Battle!"  (Pocket Monsters Black / White)
"Plasma-Dan Battle!" (Pocket Monsters Black / White)
"Champion Battle!" (Pocket Monsters Diamond / Pearl)
"Aqua-Dan / Magma-Dan Battle!" (Pocket Monsters Ruby / Sapphire)
"Friend Battle!" (Pocket Monsters X Y)
"Champion Battle!" (Pocket Monsters Gold / Silver)

Music from Chrono Trigger, the Dragon Quest series, and the Final Fantasy series will be performed as well.

Masuda Jun'ichi, producer of the video game series and composer of a lot of the music featured in the concert, tweeted that he'll be attending the afternoon show.  So, y'know, no pressure guys.

Tickets go from between 3,000 yen (US $29) to 6,000 yen (US $58) apiece.  The afternoon show begins at 3:00pm and the evening show begins at 7:00pm.

And in other Masuda Jun'ichi Twitter news, he apparently met with OLM last night to discuss...something.  OLM is the company responsible for pretty much everything to do with the animated side of the franchise.  What do you think they talked about?

"Princess vs. Princess"
March 3rd, 2014

Dogasu @ 22:50 JST -- For years and years, Hinamatsuri, often translated into English as "Girls' Day," comes along and every year I wish I had a comparison for the Hinamatsuri episode of Pocket Monsters to link to in order to commemorate the holiday.  Well this year I've decided to actually do something about that:  here's the comparison for "Princess vs. Princess."

"Princess vs. Princess"

This holiday-themed episode had a ton going on.  Cultural rewrites, more paint edits than I think any other episode in the series' history, questions about where in the storyline it fits...the list goes on and on.  It's about ten pages long which is about 2/3 the length of my massive Myuutwo Strikes Back comparison but then when you consider that this is a 22-minute episode as opposed to a full length movie you'll maybe see why I waited so long to do this comparison.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and I would love to hear whatever feedback you guys have to give.
