Video Games update, "Kokoro no Fanfare," "Pokemon Ieru Ka Na? BW"

Dogasu @ 06:40 JST --  There have been a few video game announcements made during that break I took, so let's get those out of the way.


First up is a sequel to Pokemon Scramble called Super Pokemon Scramble.  I liked the first game well enough, so I think I'll probably pick up the sequel.  The second is a Pokemon Zukan for the 3DS called Pokemon 3D Illustrated Encyclopedia BW, a piece of software that doesn't really interest me at all but is free so I might end up picking it up anyway.


I've also gotten a few lyrics up!  The first one is the long overdue lyrics to the second version of Kokoro no Fanfare that debuted in BW 015.  The second is the lyrics to the full version of Pokemon Ieru Ka Na? BW.  Typing out pokemon names in katakana is not fun at all due to computers trying to kanji-fy everything, so doing the lyrics to the full version of that song was actually rather time consuming.  Thankfully, I'm not going to have to revisit that song anytime soon.

I don't know if I've told you guys or not, but I'm now working at a preschool in the Tokyo area.  Y'know, teaching English to kids between the ages of three and five.  Well, the other day during lunch, a group of my older students - the four and five year olds - kept singing the final part of Pokemon Ieru Ka Na? BW over and over.  Like, from "Gearl" onwards.  I wish I could have somehow recorded the kids' performances to share with you all because this one boy made the most ridiculous face when he got to "Maggyo."  It still cracks me up whenever I think about it. 

I may not be a fan of the song and think it's the worst ending theme to come out of this franchise since that Notch-Eared Pichu travesty, but as my anecdote (kind of) shows, the kids seem to really dig it.

Victini and the Black Hero, Zekrom - Chapter Two

Dogasu @ 23:20 JST --  This ended up turning into one of those updates where I go to update one section only to find out that another section needs updating, which then necessitates I update another section, and so on and so on.  Suddenly, the quick update I was planning to do has turned into this much larger monster that's required more time and effort than I had expected.  So, sorry for the delay.

The journey started when I went to add the summary for the second chapter of the manga adaptation of Victini and the Black Hero, Zekrom.


The third chapter's already out, but I'm going to have to ask you guys to be patient for a little while on that one.

Next, I updated the main page for the movies the above comic is based on.  The most recent posters have been added, the cast list has been updated, and information on the theme songs for the two movies has been added.  The Differences Between Victini and the Black Hero, Zekrom & Victini and the White Hero, Reshiram has been updated, and a soundtracks page has been added with information on the various CD releases related to this film.

The CD Guide has also been updated with information on a CD called "The Best of Pokemon Songs Performed by Matsumoto Rika."  It's basically a CD collecting all the songs Satoshi's voice actress has done for the franchise, which means it's basically a CD collecting the most kick-ass songs this franchise has produced.  Seriously, I can't think of a single song she's done for Pocket Monsters that I don't like.  It comes out on July 16th, so we don't have too long to wait.


In other CD news, the CD single for Pokemon Ieru Ka Na? BW came out today.

Finally, I've updated the List of TV Episodes to reflect the new, updated numbering caused by shifting the fishing episode around. 

Kawakami Tomoko, 1970 - 2011

Dogasu @ 00:00 JST --  Voice actress Kawakami Tomoko passed away on June 9th, according to Anime News Network.  She provided voices for Pocket Monsters that included Ayame (Kasumi's sister), the Pokemon Zukan in Diamond & Pearl, the Super Pokemon Contest emcee Momoan, Hikari's Mimirol, and many, many more.  A more extensive list of her voice over work can be found on her Wikipedia page.


Rest in peace, Kawakami Tomoko.

Dogasu @ 14:54 JST -- Hey, remember when this site used to be updated?  Remember when it used to be updated with episode comparisons?

If you don't, then let me take you on a trip through memory lane with a couple of comparisons.  First up is "Dreams By the Yard Full!," aka the point in the season I left off at before I took that extended break.


Next is the comparison of Aloe's debut episode, "A Night in the Nacrene City Museum!"


Last up, "The Battle According to Lenora!"  Forty-two apron edits!!


My plan is to finish the comparison for "Rematch at the Nacrene Gym!" to get the screencap-heavy Aloe episodes out of the way.  After that...I dunno.  Should I go back and try to catch up on the Black & White comparisons that I've missed?  Should I do the three comparisons watchermark won back in January?  Should I do my first Kanto comparison of 2011?  Please send me feedback via the regular means (Facebook / Twitter / Bulbagarden / e-mail) and let me know what you want.

This schedule, seen in the July 2011 issue of Terebi-kun, tells us that an episode with a title almost identical to the title for BW 026 will be airing in two weeks.  I say "almost identical" because the title listed here omits the "The Hiun City Fishing Competition!" part of the original title.  This means one of two things.  One, the title listed in this schedule had to be shortened due to space restrictions, and the final title will end up being the same was it was before the earthquake and tsunami hit.  The other option is that the title listed here is correct and that Hiun City is going to get retconned into some random filler city in an attempt to make this fit between the Archaeos and Zorroa episodes.  Both theories seem equally plausible to me.

It's also important to note that the word kari (仮), or "tentative," appears after the title.  This could mean that the title listed isn't the final title (which would support the first theory presented above), but it could also mean that the title is being used as a placeholder and that its airing isn't set in stone.  It was just announced that there are about 90,000 people still living in shelters, after all, so TV-Tokyo might not even air it after all.

On top of all that, the dub is getting close to the point in the series where this and the two Plasma-Dan episodes would have aired.  We definitely have an interesting couple of months ahead of us.
