Recycled Characters Update
March 30th, 2010

Dogasu @ 19:18 JST -- After what seems like an eternity, I finally have steady, reliable Internet service again.  I'm in the process of getting ready to do the two Galactic Battles comparisons I missed during these two weeks and will hopefully have them up soon.

For today's update, though, I've gone and updated the Recycled Characters page.  I've pretty much added all the images I can at this moment, given what DVDs I have access to, so be sure to check it out.  As always, if you have any additional recycled characters you want me to know about, send me an e-mail.

I've also updated the List of Anime Episodes with the latest Japanese and English episode titles.  We're getting close to the end of Season 12, folks!

I hope to have the comparison for "Sticking With Who You Know!" up in the next day or two.

"The Legend of Thunder" photos
March 18th, 2010

Dogasu @ 22:15 JST -- I think my apathy toward HeartGold and SoulSilver has been very well documented.  I couldn't give two shits about the games, and I'm eagerly waiting for the day when games that actually deserve all this attention and hype actually come out.  They're just remakes, people.  God.

When the games came out in Japan, you may remember that I put up comparisons for the first five Jouto episodes at a rate of one a day.  Well, I'm in the middle of moving house and can't dedicate the time for a similar type of endeavor, so I decided to do something different.  I decided to revisit my comparisons for "The Legend of Thunder."

Now this isn't a complete rehaul of an old comparison the way the Kanto ones are.  For these three episodes, pretty much all I did was add screencaps of all those scenes that got cut for the English version.  I would have included them the first time around, but back then, any screencaps I had to post would have had subtitles on the bottom.  And, well, that's really tacky.

So, I went to the local video rental place and checked out the Japanese DVD so I could take a bunch of high-quality screencaps.  Yeah, I could have just left the comparisons as-is and simply told you about what was cut, but I think being able to show you guys is a lot better.

I've also updated the List of Anime Episodes.

Like I mentioned earlier, I'm about to move.  And, well, it's possible that I won't have any Internet access until the 30th.  I'll try to hop on some wireless network in the area, but I can't guarantee I'll be able to do that.  There are still plenty of updates I can work on without an Internet to distract me, so I'll at least try to do some of that while I'm cut off from the rest of the Internets.

"Trying for the Family Stone!"
March 14th, 2010

Dogasu @ 00:05 JST -- Here's the comparison for "Trying for the Family Stone!"

"Trying for the Family Stone!"

This episode had a neat homage that most people seem to have missed out on (including TPCI), so check it out if you want to learn a little something about Belgian plays.

This is actually going to be the last DP Galactic Battles comparison I'll be able to do for two weeks because I'll be without Internet as of Saturday the 20th.  I'm moving to a new apartment and won't have the Internet hooked up until the 30th, so I won't be able to update this site unless my neighbors happen to have insecure wireless Internet.  Sorry about that.

I do have an update planned for the English launch of HeartGold and SoulSilver, so expect that sometime later today.

"The Kangaskhan Kid"
March 8th, 2010

Dogasu @ 22:19 JST -- It's been a while, but I'm finally getting back into the swing of things.  I say that because tonight, I have a new Kanto comparison.

Here's "The Kangaskhan Kid."

"The Kangaskhan Kid"

This one had some interesting edits going on, so be sure to check that out.

The next episode will be "The Legend of Miniryuu."  There isn't an English version of the episode for me to compare anything to, but that doesn't mean I'm going to half-ass anything here.  My plan is to take a look at the reason(s) it was banned, explore whether or not they could have gotten around some of those things, go into that rumor about an English version existing, talk about the "catching 30 Kentaros" thing (I don't believe Satoshi necessarily caught 30 of those things), and more.  I don't know when I'll have it up, and I'm pretty terrible when it comes to adhering to my own deadlines, so I'll just give you guys the ambiguous answer and say I'll have it up "soon-ish."

"Pokemon Ranger and the Tracks of Light"
March 7th, 2010

Dogasu @ 13:09 JST -- I wanted to go ahead and post this before I forget about it.  So, here's my page for the two-part special "Pokemon Ranger and the Tracks of Light."

It's amazing how much information you can mine out of two four minute shorts.

By the way, the game is pretty awesome.  I already like it better than the second game, and I thought that game was pretty phenomenal.  Please pay more attention to this game, Internet.

"Bagged Then Tagged!"
March 7th, 2010

Dogasu @ 00:39 JST -- After last week's appalling delay, I made an extra effort to get this comparison out as quickly as I could.  So, check out "Bagged Then Tagged!"

Bagged Then Tagged!

I actually planned to have this up sooner, but I've got this weird cold that's making me feel like crap.

I also went into my page for the Wii no Ma - Theater no Ma and updated it so that the whole thing's in the past tense now.  I knew the episodes would be removed after the 28th of last month, but when I went to dig around a little for this update, I discovered that The Pokémon Company's space on the service has been completely removed.  Like, all the promos, all the exclusive, all the logos...everything.  Weird.

I got the third Pokemon Ranger game in the mail today and am currently making my way through that, but I'll try to pry myself away to make another update in the next few days.

"Dressed for Jess Success!"
March 4th, 2010

Dogasu @ 00:16 JST -- Here ya go!  "Dressed for Jess Success!"

"Dressed for Jess Success!"

This one's late because I've been busy apartment hunting over the last few days.  Looking for a new place to live is, not surprisingly, an extremely time-consuming task and is not something that's gonna take a back seat to "talking about the dub of a children's cartoon."  Gotta have priorities, y'know.

Also, Ranger 3 comes out this weekend.  I've pre-ordered it through the Japanese Amazon site (you save the equivalent of about $10 by doing that), so with any luck, I'll be getting it over the weekend.  Can't wait!
