"Ill-Will Hunting!", General Edits
June 20th, 2008

Dogasu @ 15:02 JST -- Sorry for the long wait!  I had actually finished the "Ill-Will Hunting!" comparison quite a few days ago.  After finishing that, I decided to update the General Edits page with a quick note about the TO BE CONTINUED... edit, but in the end I just went ahead and pretty much rewrote the whole page because the old one sucked.  So the page now has a lot of information that it didn't have before and some pretty DVD caps to liven things up.

I'm starting to get tired of still working on Season 10 comparisons because it feels like I've been doing them forever.  So, at the beginning of next week, I'm going to do my best to try to start on some daily update schedule again so I can get that season over with.  No promises, though.

In the meantime, check out the awesome Giratina and the Sky Bouquest, Shami shirts that Uniqlo stores across Japan are selling now.  If I was a ten year old Japanese kid, I'd be all over that ish.

"NEWS, everyone!"
June 12th, 2008

Dogasu @ 07:05 JST -- Finished my One Piece watching for the moment, so I'm gonna start jumping back into the whole episode comparison thing in the next day or so.  But before that, I wanted to get through some news items.

First up:  manga stuff!

The English version of the manga adaptation of Pokémon The Rise of Darkrai came out June 3rd, apparently.   This one pretty much slid in under the radar (has anyone seen any advertisements for this anywhere?) but is worth a purchase just so you can say that you're supporting the release of English versions of the manga in the U.S.

August 5th, 2008 sees the release of the English version of the manga adaptation Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea.  Don't know why Viz is releasing these in reverse order, but whatever; "better late than never" and all that.

Finally, September 2nd, 2008 sees the release of Volume 02 of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl Adventure!

In other news, My Pokémon Ranch (the slighly more selfish-sounding English title for Everyone's Pokemon Farm) was released on the North American WiiWare service this past Monday.  Since I never play the games enough to have storage issues, this one's going to be a pass for me.  Information about the game's been updated on the Wii Downloads page.

I've also added the newest episode titles to the List of Anime Episodes.  It looks like they're really rushing through some things in order to have everyone's team be up-to-date for the movie coming out next month.

Other than that, there's that Platinum stuff that every other site on the web is wetting themselves over and would therefore be redundant for me to cover here.  I just never understood how adding a few areas and making some simple cosmetic changes equals "OMG MUST BUY!," but that's the fandom for ya.  In any case, I've updated the Nintendo DS page with the most recently revealed information.

I'll try to have a new comparison up sometime around Friday or Saturday.  Emphasis on the word try.

"Mass Hi-Po-Sis!"

June 9th, 2008

Dogasu @ 22:32 JST -- I've finished the comparison for "Mass Hi-Po-Sis!"  I don't know why that one took me so long to write up.

One of the visitors of this site suggested I stop reporting on the TO BE CONTINUED... screen edits in every single comparison since they don't seem to be going away anytime soon.  The suggestion was to just add them to the General Edits page instead.  What do you guys think?

I'll get "Ill-Will Hunting!" up in a few days if I can pull myself away from the Water 7 arc of One Piece to do it.  I mean...I think Episode 236 might be my most favorite episode of any anime ever.  The stuff that's following it's not too shabby, either.

It's not gonna be easy :/

New Comparison!
June 6th, 2008

Dogasu @ 23:45 JST -- So I finished watching all my Orange Islands DVDs that I have, so now it's time to jump into the whole episode comparison thing again.

So, here's "Malice In Wonderland!"  There were quite a few dialogue oddities in there, so I hope you'll take the time to read through it.

I've also updated the List of Anime Episodes with the latest dub titles.

Finally, I've updated the DVD Guide with all new titles announced by Viz recently.  These include the second Battle Frontier box set, the first two Diamond & Pearl volumes (and box set), and volumes eleven through fourteen in the All Stars (aka Tenth Anniversary) series.  That last one surprises me; I had assumed that those "best of" volumes wouldn't have sold all that well, but I guess I was wrong.  Hmm.

You'll also notice that I've fudged around with the English numbering on a few of the pages.  I'm basically wanting to switch over to the numbering system used by the official site and the TV stations of season number plus episode number (so 1101, for example, would be Season 11 Episode 01), so you'll start to see that popping up during the next few updates.

Don't know when "Mass Hip-osis!" will be up, but I'll try my best to have it up sooner than later.

Random Lyrics Update
June 1st, 2008

Dogasu @ 15:55 JST -- Let's hear it for server outages!

So the CD single Kaze no Message came out in Japan this past Thursday.  There's a version with a DVD and a version without, and both versions have a slightly different track listings.  The non-DVD version has a karaoke version of Kaze no Message (PokaPoka Version) that the version with the DVD doesn't.  The version with the DVD, on the other hand, has a song entitled Pokemon March Medley that the other version doesn't.  Pokemon March Medley is just a marching-style medley of the various opening and ending themes to the Advanced Generation and Diamond & Pearl series sandwiched between Kono Yubi Tomare, another of the songs on the CD.

Well, I got the CD and decided to go ahead and type up the lyrics for the songs there.  Because if I don't do it now, it'll probably never get done.  So, I present the lyrics to the full version of Kaze no Message and Kono Yubi Tomare.  I think Kono Yubi Tomare actually has Lucky Lucky beat for the sheer number of pokemon-related puns present, but I could be wrong.

I've also fixed an error that several of you have e-mailed me about in the comparison for "Home Is Where The Start Is!"

In other news, I've been watching the Orange Islands episodes again because I recently realized how little I actually know about that season.  Half the episodes I've watched from the first disc haven't been seen by me since they first premiered on Kids' WB! almost a decade ago, and the other half are episodes that I don't remember having ever seen at all.  It's certainly a nice (if not a bit repetitive) little saga that I wish I had familiarized myself with earlier.

It's also the first time I've watched the dub for a non-comparison purpose in at least five years.  It's certainly...different.  Veronica Taylor's Orange Islands Ash is getting on my nerves and the hatred a lot of fans have for Tracey is becoming apparent to me, but Rachel Lillis' Misty is quite a bit nicer than I remember.

And the only reason I'm watching the dub in the first place is because I can't be bothered to get the Japanese version at the moment.  Hooray for laziness.

I've watched all of the first Orange Islands disc and don't own the second one, so I'll probably watch all of the third disc again before diving into the comparisons again.  But I watched all twelve episodes on the first disc in less than a day, so don't worry about having to endure yet another update gap.
