Satoshi, who lives in Masara Town in the Kanto Region,
receives a Pikachu, Monster Balls, and Pokémon Bestiary from Dr.
Ookido before setting off on a journey to become a Pokémon
Master. He has tough battles at places like the Nibi Gym and Kuchiba
Gym and encounters lots of Pokémon along the way. This series
with mysterious stories and scenes filled with humor is the very first
Pokémon animated TV series.
After the airing of "Cyber Soldier Porygon," Pocket Monsters was put on hiatus for about four months while OLM and TV-Tokyo worked to figure out what caused the "Pokémon Shock" incident. When the show finally returned in April, its Tuesday 18:30 timeslot had already been reclaimed so Pocket Monsters moved to airing on Thursday nights at 19:00 instead.
Satoshi leaves Masara Town to head for the Orange Islands. This adventure has it all - the Orange League, fresh never-before-scene types of Pokémon battles, the meeting with a new traveling companion Kenji, mysteries of Pokémon evolution, 3-on-3 battles, the debut of a member of the Four Heavenly Kings, and the reappearance of old rivals like Shigeru. The popular Orange Islands arc shows just how big the world of Pokémon is, even more than its predecessor!
[2] The name of the Pokémon technique "Explosion" in the Japanese version is Daibakuhatsu (だいばくはつ). In the title for Episode 114, however, the term used is Daibakuha (だいばくは), without that final tsu (つ) there at the end. The two words have more or less the same meaning (bakuha (爆破) means "blast" or "explode" or "demolish") but since the term used in this episode title is not the name of a Pokémon attack I decided to go with a translation that uses something other than "Explosion" here.

The scene's changed to the Johto Region as
Satoshi sets off on a new journey from Wakaba Town. Starting with the
starter Pokémon Chicorita, Hinoarashi, and Waninoko, new friends
like Hoho, Kireihana, Bulu, Hapinas, and Sunnygo appear one after the
