"Kyurem vs. The Sacred Swordsman Keldeo" DVD and Blu-ray details, new theme song CD
October 21st, 2012

Dogasu @ 13:52 JST --  I've had a really busy week with all this real life stuff going on so I haven't been able to even post a simple update like this.  Sorry!

The DVD and Blu-ray for Kyurem vs. The Sacred Swordsman Keldeo have been announced for a December 19th release.  Both versions will include both the main film, Kyurem vs. The Sacred Swordsman Keldeo and the Pikachu short Meloetta's Dazzling Recital in a two disc set.  Not really sure why the Blu-ray version needs to put the short on its own disc (surely there's enough space to fit both of them on a single Blu-ray disc?), but this is also Amazon we're talking about so that might just be a typo.  The DVD Guide has been updated accordingly.

Also, a reminder that the Pikachu The Movie Box 2007 - 2010 comes out this Wednesday!  Will you guys be picking this up or waiting for the Blu-ray set that comes out next month?  Or are you insane like me and plan on picking both of them up?

Best of Best

There's also another CD coming out before the end of the year called Pokemon TV Animation - The Best of the Best Theme Songs from 1997 - 2012.  The three disc set will have every opening and ending theme from the four TV series except the two most recent themes, Yajirushi ni Natte and Mite Mite
☆ Kotchi-tchi.  The set will also come with a 50 page booklet that'll probably have some interviews and other great behind the scenes stuff.  The CD Guide has been updated with information on this release.

In non-advertising things that are coming out soon news, I've updated the front page of the Manga Guide.  I've moved the most recently canceled series down to their respective categories ("Multiple Volumes" for Pocket Monsters RéBURST and "Single Volume Series" for Pocket Monsters B2 - W2 ~ A New Legend), created a "Movie Adaptations" category (and yes, I've confirmed that manga adaptations of the first five movies actually do exist), and added some titles to the "Series Not Collected in Graphic Novel Format" category.

Finally, the List of TV Episodes has been updated.

I have a lot to do to prepare for Halloween this week but I hope to be able to update at least once this coming week.

Catching up with Pocket Monsters Special
October 13th, 2012

Dogasu @ 11:25 JST --  Two chapters of Pocket Monsters Special came out last month!  The first one is a continuation of the Black & White chapter and the second one is a prologue to the upcoming B2W2 chapter!  Click on the title page below to read the summary.

CoroCoro Ichiban! November 2012
Pokemon Fan Issue 25

Also, as I mentioned last week, the chapter of Pocket Monsters RéBURST that came out this week was the last one.  It's sad because it's genuinely one of my favorite Pocket Monsters manga out there, but then again 76 chapters is longer than most Pocket Monsters manga so I guess I can't complain too much.  Volume 7 comes out October 18th (this Thursday!) and Volume 8 comes out November 16th.

In other news, I've updated the Timeline page in my "The Rocket-Dan vs. The Plasma-Dan" write-up with some of the more recent developments regarding this skipped two-parter.  I think it's pretty safe to say we're never going to see these episodes now.

I've also included a page comparing the footage used in "Meloetta and the Undersea Temple!" with the footage used in "The Rocket-Dan vs. The Plasma-Dan"!  Check it out!

"Crisis from the Underground Up!"
October 1st, 2012

Dogasu @ 06:46 JST --  Here's the comparison for "Crisis from the Underground Up!," aka the first part of the two-parter that everybody but Dogasu loves!

"Crisis from the Underground Up!"

In movie news, a poster for the English version of the Kyurem movie has been added to its page on this site.  There's still no sign of the Pikachu short, which got me to thinking; does Cartoon Network generally air the Pikachu shorts whenever they rerun the first six movies?  Or do they just air the main feature and that's it?  I'm thinking that if they don't have any plans to air the Meloetta short, they would have no reason to promote it right now and that it could still pop up as an extra on the eventual DVD release.

Kyurem vs. The Sword of Justice

Now you guys all know Rola, the tarento who sang the theme song "Memories" for Kyurem vs. The Sacred Swordsman Keldeo and also provided the voice of Malin?  Well, there is now a video of her lip syncing to Carley Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe."  It is as awful as you can imagine.

Speaking of voice actors, I know that a lot of you will be happy to learn that Miyano Mamoru is currently appearing in a "nude" spread in the November issue of JUNON.  I put quotation marks around the world "nude" because after flipping through he issue at a local bookstore, I can tell you that he's not actually naked in the issue - it's more of the PG "shirtless from the shoulders up" type thing.  Still, CD Japan and Amazon Japan have the magazine for sale for those of you interested.

JUNON November 2012

In manga news, it looks like Pocket Monsters RéBURST is set to end in the issue of Weekly Shounen Sunday that's set to go on sale October 10th.  I know I haven't really done anything with the series on this site in a long, long time, but I have been following it every week for the past year and a half and have been enjoying the hell out of it.  I don't really see how they're going to wrap everything up in the two chapters they have left, though.
