Card Master Changes/Additions
January 30th, 2007

I've made a few corrections to the synopsis for the first chapter of Mezase!!  Card Master.  Thanks goes out to Water Pokémon Master, Porygon, and Blackjack Gabbiani for giving me feedback on this.  I went ahead and read the second chapter, and it seems to pretty interesting...Kenta goes to Hawaii to participate in a Cross-Cultural party and battles an American named Vanessa Crawford while he's there.  I don't know when I'll get the chance to write a synopsis for that one, but it won't be for a good while.

Tomorrow is the site's birthday in addition to it being the final day for my e-bay auctions!  Please visit tomorrow for my anniversary rant and for an update to a section of the site that hasn't been updated in years.

Mezase!!  Card Master
January 29th, 2007

About a year and a half ago, I started something called the "Manga of the Month."  The plan, at the time, was to feature one of the dozens of Pocket Monsters-related manga at the rate of one a month.  I would post a poll asking what manga you guys wanted to see featured, and I would create the section based on your votes .  The Manga of the Month for the third month was Card Masters, but I never really got around to making that section.  Until now.

So without further ado, here's the October 2005 Manga of the Month, Mezase!!  Card Master.  It's like a cross between Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh!, so if you're a TCG fan, you'll probably enjoy this.  Now I don't play the TCG myself, and the only exposure I even have to that part of the fandom is the few hours I've spent on the Pokemon TCG Game Boy Color game.  So I got Water Pokémon Master to look over everything for me.  Hopefully everything is accurate

I've only posted the first chapter for now.  Part of the reason for that is because, as I've said, I know next to nothing about the card game.  Another issue is the fact that the manga is incredibly dense; there's just so much text in the damn thing that it takes a lot longer to go through than, say, Pocket Monsters.  There's also a deck list at the end of the book that tells you what cards each player has, and I do plan to translate that at some point.

I've also got a new Diamond & Pearl title up.

Wednesday is this site's seventh birthday, and I hope to have another "should have been done years ago" update by then.  While you're waiting for that, why don't you check out the stuff I have up on e-bay?

Recycled Characters
January 24th, 2007

The episode title I posted earlier had a typo in it, so I corrected it.  It should be "Once More with Reeling," not "One More with Reeling."

I've also updated the Recycled Characters page.  I haven't really added any more characters, but I have added screenshots from episodes where favorites like "Guy with a blue hoodie and a white baseball cap" and "Girl with brown pigtails and pink overalls" have shown up again.  One of the pictures I posted wasn't from a DVD, but I really didn't have a choice with that one since "Beauty and the Beach" has never been released that way in the U.S. before.

e-bay
January 24th, 2007

You'll notice that I have a link to a bunch of e-bay auctions I have up right now.  Why don't you take a look at what I have for sale and see if you want any of those items?

I also have some new episode titles up for the dub, thanks to Duke.  Apparently, the CN grids list "Episode 947" (Season 9, Episode 47) as airing on March 3rd, so that seems to be the premiere date for Ash's last episode in the Battle Frontier.

I'll have a better update later tonight.

"Off the Unbeaten Path"
January 23rd, 2007

So I've got the comparison for "Off the Unbeaten Path" up for you guys.  So enjoy that.

You guys remember how, back around September or so, my computer started acting up?  I would come on here and talk about how my laptop was being really slow and that it was preventing me from playing two video files at the same time?

Well, I never really got that fixed.  All this time, every comparison I've done was either done on my mom's computer whenever I went home or was been done by playing the Japanese version on my laptop while playing whatever dub episode I happened to have on VHS playing in my VCR.  At this point, I've written up all the comparisons I did at my mom's house, and I've gone through almost all the episodes I have on tape, so I'm going to have to start doing comparisons out of order.  So the next Battle Frontier episode comparison I'll do is "Battling the Enemy Within."

The situation sucks, too, because I was really looking forward to bitching about discussing Harley's new voice.

After that first Brandon episode, I'll be able to do the comparison for "Slaking Kong."  AFTER that...I won't be able to do any more Battle Frontier comparisons until I go home again sometime in February.  Sorry.  In the meantime, I'll go back and redo the old Kanto comparisons and will include screencaps from both the Japanese version (from some recently-downloaded .avi files) and the English version (from that Season One DVD set).  I also know a lot more Japanese than I did when I first wrote those, so the new comparisons should be a lot more accurate.  Plus, the comparisons will be a lot less fanboy-ish.

I'll post those e-bay auctions up later tonight.  None of the stuff being sold is Pokemon-related, but the money that I received from the auctions will go toward this site (DVD's and whatnot), so it'd be great if some of you guys could buy some of this from me.

Quick News Update
January 22nd, 2007

I've got a quick one for you today...Amazon.com is accepting pre-orders for the English version of the Manaphy movie here.  Now that's not all that exciting, but I think that the special 3-disc set they're also accepting pre-orders for is worth noting.  So what are these two extra discs for?  Extra discs?  Some TV episodes?  A new special, similar to The Mastermind of Mirage Pok
émon?  Or is it just one of those bundles that Amazon puts together (like the Pokémon The First Movie + Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie 2-pack)?  If I had a forum, I'd say something like "Discuss this story here" with a link to the topic on this news, but, well, I don't.

Tomorrow I plan to have "Off the Unbeaten Path" up.  I'll also have some e-bay auctions I'll link to on this site so you can buy some of my stuff and de-clutter my apartment.

Also...my site's seventh birthday will be a week from Wednesday, and I happen to have the day off, so I should be able to have an actual content update instead of the usual reflection of the past year.

"Queen of the Serpentine"
January 20th, 2007

An update ever two-three days isn't so bad...

Today, I have "Queen of the Serpentine" up for you guys.  It's the first episode that aired in 2006 in Japan, so that's exciting.

I need to get some stuff together to sell on e-bay, so it may be a few days before I get the comparison for "Off the Unbeaten Path" ready for you guys.

"Time Warp Heals All Wounds"
January 18th, 2007

I have a confession to make...the comparison for "Time Warp Heals All Wounds" is really, really whiny.  And bitchy.  Don't go near it if the Dogasu from circa 2002 got on your nerves.

I also got an e-mail from Ethan Scott pointing out an error in the newest bashing article I posted.  I had meant to write "John Kelly," but I ended up writing "John Kerry" instead!  Whoops!  I've since corrected the error on that page and on the Mewtwo Power Ball page.

Finally, I've added a new episode title to the dub list.  Only three more titles to go and we'll be done with Advanced Generation.  Crazy, huh?

"From Cradle to Save"
January 15th, 2007

I've got a new comparison up; "From Cradle to Save."  I've also made a correction to the "The Green Guardian" and an update to the "A Chip Off the Old Brock" comparison.   Enjoy!

I've ordered the two Advanced Battle DVD's that were just released last week (as well as the second volume, which was out of stock the last time I tried to order it), so hopefully I'll be getting those sometime this week so I can make some additions to the Recycled Characters page.

Mystery Dungeon manga, "The Green Guardian," new dub title
January 13th, 2007

Slowly but surely, I make my way through the Battle Frontier...

I've also added a synopsis for the final chapter of the Mystery Dungeon manga.  The only thing left for that particular series is the graphic novel set to be released on March 6th (apparently Viz bumped it up from their original March 27th release date).  After that...we don't really know what's in store.  Viz hasn't announced any more Pokemon-related manga in the works, and I'm betting that they're waiting to see how these books do before committing to any more series.   Pokemon Adventures was cancelled due to low sales, so Viz is understandably skeptical of the demand for new Pokemon manga.  Let's prove them all wrong by buying the Mystery Dungeon graphic novel in March.

I've also added a new dub title, thanks to Duke.  OMG i GoT suM inFoRmashUn b4 SerEbii did lOLL!!!l!11!!1one!!one!!1!

Updates, updates, updates!
January 10th, 2007

Hey everyone.  I meant to update this site waaaaaay before now, but this update took a bit of time.

First of all...I've gotten a bunch of e-mails from visitors confirming that the scene in "Reversing the Charges" that was missing in my .avi file is indeed in the broadcast version (one person even provided a transcript!).  So, I've taken out that part of the comparison.  Thanks to everyone who took the time out to e-mail me.

Speaking of e-mails, I've added some e-mails with some cliches to add to The Grand List of Pokémon Video Game Clichés, so go check those out.  As always, the newest additions are highlighted in red.

I've also added a credit to the comparison for Episode 013.  Thanks goes to Laundry Detergent for e-mailing that to me.

Finally, I've added a new article to the Pokemon Bashing section.  Now other than the occasional update to the Rougela article, I really don't update that section much anymore.  However, I got an e-mail from Matthew Stretton alerting me to the fact that the link
to Jon Kelly's website was broken, so I started to look for the correct one.  And while I was doing that, I stumbled across an article that was so crazy that it made Mr. Kelly seem like a rational human being.  It's a long read, I realize, so here's a summary:  "Peek-at-you" wants to molest little girls, Tommy's father is Hitler, Meowth has penis hands, and Jigglypuff is supposed to be a woman's nipple.  Want to read more?  Check out the article here.

Two more Advanced Battle DVD's were released yesterday ("Berry, Berry Interesting" and "Deceit and Assist"), so hopefully I'll be able to order them within the next week or two so I can add some more screencaps to the Recycled Characters page.  I know that the episode "Berry, Berry Interesting," in particular, is a gold mine of recycled characters, so I should have some content to add to that section very soon.

I think the next update will be a comparison of "The Green Guardian."

"Reversing the Charges"
January 5th, 2007

Happy 2007!  This will be my site's seventh year on the Internet, so when the site's birthday comes up on January 31st, I'll be sure to do a 2006 retrospective.

For now, though, I've got "Reversing the Charges" up for you guys.  I have an edit listed that I don't think really happened, so please take a look at that and let me know if PUSA really did cut out the first part or if I just have a bad .avi file.  I've also got some new episode titles for Pokémon Battle Frontier and Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl

My next update will be a summary of the final Pokemon Mystery Dungeon chapter as well as some really great Video Game Clichés that you guys have sent me.
