Main Film Basic Synopsis

Satoshi, Iris, and Dent are on a train to their next adventure in Roshan (ローシャン).  As the train weaves through the mountain roads, our heroes spot an injured pokemon they had never seen before.  It turns out to be the legendary Keldeo, a pokemon who's said to be the successor to the trio of "sacred swordsmen" who protect the earth and its pokemon.  These swordsmen are none other than the legendary trio of Cobalon, Terrakion, and Virizion!

Suddenly, the strongest Dragon-Type pokemon Kyurem appears and attacks Satoshi and his friends!  Kyurem has the power to transform into "Black Kyurem" and "White Kyurem," leaving Satoshi and his friends with no choice but to make a run for it!

This thrilling chase takes place takes place on both land and the air!  Can Keldeo, Satoshi, and Pikachu overcome this danger and escape!?  And how will Satoshi's and his friends' friendship awaken Keldeo's hidden power?

Pikachu Short Basic Synopsis

The legendary pokemon Meloetta has a recital whenever the full moon shines over the "Lunatone Rock" (ルナトーン岩).  Pikachu and its friends are moved by the graceful dancing and unearthly singing that takes place during one of these recitals.  Suddenly, a sandstorm comes through the recital area and blows four of the "Melody Berries" away!  The recital is postponed until Meloetta and the others can find these mysterious Berries.

This short is getting attention for featuring pokemon who appear to have belonged to past members of the main cast.

Notes

The theatrical Pocket Monsters movies usually have a teaser trailer for the next year's film after the credits roll.  The end of the first Best Wishes movies, however, did not show any such teaser.  The first teaser trailer wasn't shown until the December 8th, 2011 episode of Oha Sta.

The film was advertised as the franchise's fifteenth anniversary movie.

Musashi, Kojirou, and Nyasu do not have a speaking role in the main film.

Japanese Box Office Performance

Gross-to-date:  3,419,166,100 (as of September 4th, 2012)

Pocket Monsters Best Wishes! Kyurem vs. The Sacred Swordsman Keldeo opened in second place at the box office.  It was shown in 357 screens nationwide and made 753,760,100 yen over the three-day weekend.  The movie was beaten by Brave Hearts - Umizaru, the newest film in the highly popular Umizaru series.  Coming in in third place was The Amazing Spider-Man, a film that had been in the number one since it debuted two weeks before.

The movie fell to third place in its second weekend in theaters.  Brave Hearts - Umizaru remained in first place while newcomer The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki, the new film from Summer Wars director Hosoda Mamoru.  According to Cinema Today, Pocket Monsters Best Wishes! Kyurem vs. The Sacred Swordsman Keldeo has surpassed the 1 billion yen mark but did not give an exact figure.

Week number three saw the newest Pocket Monsters movie dropping for fifth place.  Brave Hearts - Umizaru didn't stayed in the top spot, newcomers Dark Knight Rises and Road to Ninja - Naruto The Movie - debuted in second and third place, respectively, and The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki dropped to number four.  Pocket Monsters Best Wishes! Kyurem vs. The Sacred Swordsman Keldeo came in at number five and was able to pass the 1.5 billion yen mark.

The second Best Wishes! movie went up to fourth place in its fourth weekend, one rank up from the previous weekend.  The double feature Kamen Rider Fourze The Movie - Everyone, Space is Here!! / Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters - Protect the Tokyo EneTower! came in first place, Brave Hearts - Umizaru finally fell out of the top spot to second place, and The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki went one rank up to third place.  Kyurem vs. The Sacred Swordsman Keldeo passed the 2 billion yen mark this weekend.

The film remained in fourth place in its fifth weekend.  Brave Hearts - Umizaru went back up to first place, The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki climbed to second, and Total Recall debuted at third.  The latest Pocket Monsters movie passed the 2.5 billion yen mark this weekend.

It went down one rank in week number six due to the arrival of The Avengers.  Marvel's big-budget summer blockbuster, which is only just making its way to Japan this weekend, debuted at number one.
Brave Hearts - Umizaru fell to number two and The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki fell to number three.  Madagascar 3, which had debuted the previous week in sixth place, shot up two places to take the number four spot.  Pocket Monsters Best Wishes! Kyurem vs. The Sacred Swordsman Keldeo rounded up the top five and was able to surpass the 3 billion yen mark.

It went down to number seven in its seventh week as a number of new movies entered the Top Ten.  First place went to the live action Rurouni Kenshin movie (which is apparently very good) while second went to Anata E, a movie about an old man traveling to his deceased wife's hometown *shrugs*.  The Avengers fell to third place while Prometheus debuted at number four.  Fifth place went to The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki and sixth place went to Brave Hearts - Umizaru, a huge drop for a movie that's pretty much dominated the Japanese box office all summer.  The second Best Wishes! movie came in at seventh place.

Pocket Monsters Best Wishes! Kyurem vs. The Sacred Swordsman Keldeo spent its eighth and probably final week in the top ten in tenth place.   Newcomers to the top ten were the live action adaptation of Akatsuka Fujio's Himitsu no Akko-chan, debuting a fifth place, and the French film Intouchables, debuting in eighth.  The rest of the top ten was filled out by movies that had already debuted in previous weeks.

The Kyurem movie fell out of the top ten in its ninth week in theaters.
