In a secret location belonging to the Magma-Dan, a secret organization that strives to obtain the power of the legendary pokemon Groudon, a man is speaking to a group of the Magma-Dan's senior members. The man announces that he has obtained the fang of the legendary pokemon that they seek, and that, with the aid of a special device he's created, he will be able to resurrect the pokemon! The man sets the device in motion, but soon it malfunctions and is destroyed in a massive explosion! The Magma-Dan laugh at the dismayed scientist, telling him that they don't need him anymore. The man pleads with the members of the Magma-Dan to give him one more chance, but his requests are made in vain. The man picks up the remains of the fang that he collected and storms away, swearing that some day, he will succeed. Some unknown amount of time later, a comet can be seen hurtling through the night sky. Elsewhere, Satoshi, Haruka, Takeshi, and Masato are awaiting the beginning of a festival to honor "The Millennium Comet." Satoshi asks what that is, and Masato tells him that once every thousand years, a comet can be seen in the sky for a span of only seven nights. Haruka tells Satoshi to compare it to Vega1, a star that can be seen once every one hundred years, and says that having to wait for a thousand years must be difficult. Haruka is excited to see it, thinking how lucky they are for being alive at this time. Suddenly, Takeshi's stomach starts to rumble, and soon everyone's stomachs follow suit. The gang decides to eat a meal before camping out for the night. As everyone lays outside in their sleeping bags, Haruka spots a shooting star! The young trainer starts making wishes, asking the star for lots of pokemon, a boyfriend, a Game Boy Advance SP, and other such things, all while her brother glares at her. Satoshi tells Haruka that she'd only get one wish and starts to say what he would wish for, but he falls asleep before he can tell the group what it is. Everyone falls asleep except Masato, who stares into the night sky, wishing that he had a strong pokemon like Pikachu to call his own. The next morning, Pikachu is awoken by the sound of music. The sleepy pokemon looks down the valley and sees a circus that had been set up overnight! The electric pokemon wakes everyone up and guides them to the carnival, which is now filled with lots of people! The gang makes their way down to the attractions as Musashi, Kojirou, and Nyasu, who are wearing clown disguises, pass out flyers for the Great Butler's Magic Show. Satoshi and his friends hear about the magic show and decide to attend, so they enter the big tent where the show is to take place. As our heroes enter, Pikachu is greeted by a Kirlia, who pats the mouse pokemon on the head. The magic show has
begun! On stage is the man who tried to
resurrect Groudon for the Magma-Dan, Butler, and his Kirlia and
Guraena. Butler points to Kirlia, who is sealed inside a
box. Guraena takes a chain in its mouth and wraps it around the
box, sealing Kirlia inside. Afterwards, Butler takes a bunch of
swords and, one by one, sticks them into the box! Satoshi and his
friends watch anxiously as Butler takes the final sword, which is on
fire, and stabs the box with it! The box catches on fire as
Masato comments on how easily Satoshi and his sister are fooled.
As the smoke from the flames clears, a woman holding a crystal cocoon
in her arms emerges from the box! As everyone in the crowd
cheers, Masato starts to hear a voice coming
from the crystal telling him that its name is Jiraachi! Haruka's
brother
stands up in astonishment, which causes Butler to take notice and
smirk, thinking to himself how he's
finally found "him." Butler thanks everyone for watching his
show,
and he also thanks Dianne (the girl holding the cocoon), Guraena, and
Kirlia (who's now sitting in the audience). Pikachu rejoices at
the fact that the pokemon is safe and sound. As everyone claps, Masato continues to hear the voice calling to him. The young boy starts to walk onto the stage, as if possessed, and heads straight for the cocoon! Satoshi runs on stage and yells at his young friend, wondering what he's doing. Satoshi apologizes to Butler for interrupting his show, but the magician isn't angry at all; in fact, he asks Satoshi and Masato to help him out with his next trick! Dianne asks the two boys for their names as Takeshi sits in the audience, upset that they get to share the stage with such a beautiful woman. Then, Musashi and Kojirou appear, still in their clown outfits, and roll a large box onto the stage. Butler asks Satoshi and Masato to get into the box, and so the young boys agree. Butler then tells the audience that after ten seconds, his Samayohru will use its Hyper Beam attack to destroy the box! As Masato tells Satoshi that he heard a strange voice coming from the stage, Butler orders his pokemon to use Hyper Beam! The box is destroyed in a huge explosion, causing both Haruka and Takeshi to scream! As everyone, including Musashi and Kojirou, worries about the two boys, Butler reveals that they're safe and sound as he directs everyone's attention to the bleachers, where the two young boys have suddenly appeared! Everyone claps for Satoshi and Masato, who have no choice but to stand there and smile. Suddenly, a metal claw emerges from the audience and snatches Pikachu! The Rocket-Dan appear and remove their disguises before making a run for it with Satoshi's pokemon! A blimp appears and fires a net at Butler's Guraena and Kirlia, capturing them as well! Butler tells his audience that he'll give them a special show as he has his Samayohru fire an attack at the Rocket-Dan. The attack breaks the claw used to hold Pikachu, allowing Satoshi's pokemon to escape! Satoshi reunites with his Pikachu and then orders it to use Thunderbolt on the Rocket-Dan's blimp. Pikachu obeys, and the net holding Butler's pokemon is broken. Now that all the pokemon are freed, Samayohru is ordered to use Night Shade on the Rocket-Dan, causing the trio to be sent blasting off again. The audience cheers for Butler and Satoshi as they wave to the audience. After the show, Butler thanks Satoshi and Masato for all their help. Masato starts to become mesmerized by the crystal cocoon again, catching Butler's attention. The magician informs our heroes of the cocoon's secret; it houses the legendary pokemon, Jiraachi! Butler tells our heroes that every one thousand years, the pokemon appears for a space of seven days and will grant a wish to whoever it picks as its partner. Butler then tells Masato that he is who has been chosen to be its new partner! Masato is only able to gaze on in astonishment as Dianne hands him the cocoon. Haruka holds out her hands and tells her brother that he can't have Jiraachi because he doesn't have any pokemon yet, but Masato tightens his grip on the cocoon and tells his sister that he will protect his first pokemon for the seven days that it's on Earth! The young boy then runs off, and Satoshi and the others follow him. At this time, Dianne turns to Butler and asks him if he's sure that the pokemon will awaken tonight. Butler takes out the fang of the Groudon that he had before and looks at it, saying that his wishes will soon come true... 1The Japanese tanabata festival is based on the meeting of the stars Vega and Altair . The flaps of paper on Jiraachi's head are based on this Japanese festival.
The chapter starts with Butler looking into the night sky, eagerly anticipating the awakening of Jiraachi. Elsewhere, Satoshi, Takeshi, and Haruka are looking at fireworks set off in celebration of the Millennium Comet. As the gang marvels at the lights, Haruka pulls out a pinwheel-shaped object from her bag. Satoshi asks her what it is, and she says that it's a Wish Maker that she had bought earlier at the carnival. She explains that the Wish Maker has seven folds - one for each night that the comet can be seen - and that her wish will come true if she folds one portion of the charm every night. Further off, Masato is sitting alone, cradling Jiraachi's cocoon. Suddenly, an intense light emerges from the sleeping pokemon! Meanwhile, the pokemon Absol sees the light from a distance and starts to run toward it. Back at the hill, Satoshi, Takeshi, and Haruka catch up to Masato and witness the glowing light. Suddenly, Satoshi and the others hear Jiraachi's voice inside their heads! The light begins to die down, and soon Jiraachi's body appears. Masato stares up at the pokemon for a short moment before introducing himself as Jiraachi's partner. Jiraachi repeats Masato's name and then looks over at Satoshi-tachi, wondering if they're enemies. Masato quickly tells it that they're not and says that they're his friends. Jiraachi looks puzzled, and Masato guesses that Jiraachi doesn't have any friends in this time. Masato tells his partner that he wants to be its friend, but Jiraachi asks him how they can do that. Satoshi steps in and says that it's easy as everyone introduces themselves, one by one, to the wish granting pokemon. Jiraachi repeats everyone's name back to them as Dianne appears in front of the group. She notices that Jiraachi has awoken, so she tells the kids to wait in her bus while she informs Butler. In a dark room, Butler is watching a shooting star in the sky. Dianne runs into the room, out of breath, and begins to tell Butler the news. The magician stops her, saying that he already knows that Jiraachi has woken up. Butler looks up at a large machine the middle of the room and announces that his experiment will begin shortly. Inside Dianne's bus, where the gang has moved, Masato asks Jiraachi if it can really grant wishes. Haruka jumps up and says that she has a wish, as do Satoshi and Takeshi. An annoyed Masato yells at his friends, saying that he wishes they would just go away. Suddenly, Satoshi, Haruka, and Takeshi vanish into thin air! Masato guesses that Jiraachi was responsible and tells it that he wasn't making a wish, so Jiraachi brings his friends back. However, when they return, they're all soaking wet, and there's a Koiking biting Satoshi's butt! After this, Jiraachi says that it's sleepy, so it curls up and goes to sleep. Masato freaks out because he thinks that his friends is going to sleep for another thousand years, but Butler enters the bus and says that the pokemon's only sleeping for the night. He tells our heroes that it must be exhausted after using its ability and just needs a little rest, causing Masato to breathe a sigh of relief. He says goodnight to Jiraachi and goes to sleep, eagerly awaiting the next day. That following morning, Satoshi and Takeshi are seen dressed up in clown outfits, similar to the ones Musashi and Kojirou wore. It seems that the two have volunteered to pass out flyers for Butler's show, but it becomes obvious that Takeshi is only doing it to get closer to Dianne. Meanwhile, Masato is already awake, eagerly anticipating Jiraachi's awakening. The pokemon opens its eyes and is told that it can do whatever it wants today, and so Jiraachi decides to go to the carnival. Masato and Jiraachi eagerly run out of the bus and head for the carnival grounds, barely hearing Satoshi's request for them to return before Butler's magic show starts. Above, the Rocket-Dan are flying around in their big Nyasu balloon. Musashi spots the wish granting pokemon and plots to take it to give to their Boss... Later that night, people pile out of Butler's Magic Show with smiles on their faces. Satoshi and his friends are seen staying after, being thanked by Butler for all their help. Suddenly, Haruka lets out a scream as the pokemon Absol appears! Dianne tells our heroes that Absol is said to bring disaster with it wherever it goes as Haruka calls on her Achamo to fight it. The small fire pokemon attacks with an Ember, but Absol simply shrugs it off and strikes back, sending Achamo flying across the room. Satoshi steps in with his Pikachu, who attacks its opponent with a Thunderbolt. Butler joins in and has his Guraena use Tackle attack to send Absol crashing into the wall. As the pokemon emerges from the rubble, Jiraachi seems surprised that Absol has appeared in front of them. Masato wonders how Jiraachi knows Absol and looks at his partner as Pikachu gets ready for another attack. Suddenly, Butler smiles and presses a button on his wristband that causes a cage to appear around Absol! He then calls on his Kirlia to come out and use Hypnosis to put the pokemon to sleep. Now that Absol is sleeping, Masato asks Jiraachi what it meant when it said that Absol came for it, but the pokemon ignores Masato and falls asleep, tired from its day. Day two has come to an end. Later that night, everyone is sleeping in Dianne's bus. Masato gets up in the middle of the night and is shocked to find that Jiraachi is missing! Haruka's brother wakes everyone up with his scream before running out in search of his partner. Meanwhile, in Butler's tent, Jiraachi is seen sleeping on a table. Dianne is yelling at Butler, telling him that Absol came from Faunsu to take Jiraachi back, and warns him about the disaster that's sure to follow the pokemon. Butler ignores her warnings and waits for the wish granting pokemon to awaken. As soon as it does, he has his Samayohru use Psychic to keep Jiraachi at bay! As Absol watches the attack from inside its cage, Butler tells Jiraachi that he wants it to open its "True Eye" (shinjitsu no me). With his "True Eye" open, Jiraachi will be able to collect a great amount of energy from the Millennium Comet, which can then be used to awaken Groudon! Butler presses some buttons and levers on a nearby control panel, and Jiraachi starts to scream in pain as the slit on its belly starts to open. Jiraachi tries to fly off the table, but Butler tells the pokemon that it is surrounded by a barrier that prevents it from escaping! At this moment,
Butler hears a knock on the door. Masato is on
the other side with his friends and asks Butler to open the door,
telling him that Jiraachi has gone missing. Dianne pleads with
Butler to stop, but he responds by knocking her out of his way!
He then orders his Samayohru to keep using Psychic to open Jiraachi's
True Eye while Masato and Satoshi try to break the door down from the
outside. Before long, Jiraachi's True Eye fully opens, and an
intense beam of light is fired into the sky! The energy sends out
a shockwave that essentially destroys the tent's walls and sends
everyone falling backward. As soon as the smoke clears, Masato
sees Jiraachi on the ground, unconscious, and runs toward it to see
what's wrong. Jiraachi wakes up and, with a weak voices, says
that
it wants to go to Faunsu. At that moment, Butler emerges from the rubble and marvels at Jiraachi's immense power. Masato asks what Butler did to Jiraachi, but he is ignored as Butler orders Samayohru to retrieve Jiraachi. Much to Butler's surprise, Dianne steps in between Jiraachi and him and begs him to stop. Butler ignores her request and orders his Samayohru to attack the young woman. Dianne is knocked back by the pokemon's assault, so Satoshi steps in and has his Pikachu use Iron Tail. As the ghost-type pokemon recovers, Dianne picks herself up and starts running while instructing Satoshi and his friends to get on her bus. Samayohru stands up and is ordered to stop Dianne and the others, but Absol manages to break out of its cage and rams Samayohru before it gets the chance to obey. Much to Butler's dismay, Dianne and the others escape. Later, Satoshi-tachi are riding on Dianne's bus. The young woman is asked what Faunsu is, and she responds by saying that it's the place where Butler found Jiraachi. Masato becomes sad at the news, thinking of how it will soon be time for Jiraachi to return to the comet. Meanwhile, Butler is standing atop a huge floating machine with a flat stage on the top (this machine is later referred to as his "Flying Laboratory"). As the machine flies through the air, Butler thinks to himself about how he thought Dianne was the one person who understood him. Back on the bus, Masato asks Dianne if Faunsu is far from where they are now. Dianne tells the young boy that it will take them four days to reach it, a revelation which devastates Masato. After all, Jiraachi will only be here for five more days! Dianne apologizes before reminding Masato that Jiraachi isn't really his pokemon in the sense that any other trainer has a pokemon. Haruka asks Dianne what Butler would want with Jiraachi, and she tells her that he was once a scientist for the Magma-Dan. Butler was trying to revive the legendary pokemon Groudon, but he hadn't had any luck. Then, he found Jiraachi's sleeping cocoon in Faunsu and formulated a plan to use the pokemon to harness the enormous energy that is released by the Millennium Comet. Satoshi guesses that Butler's Magic Show was merely a way of finding the boy who would be Jiraachi's partner, since the pokemon wouldn't awaken without one. Jiraachi wakes up and starts to shiver, stating that it doesn't have any friends. Masato declares that he will always be Jiraachi's friend and tells Dianne to continue toward Faunsu. As the gang drives, they notice that all of the wild pokemon in the area are running in the direction opposite of where they're heading. Dianne thinks it's strange before she notices the cause of the pokemon's unrest; a giant cyclone churning in the middle of the road! Dianne tries to steer the bus out of its path, but she can't avoid it in time! The bus is sucked up in the cyclone, and it looks like everyone is done for! Masato tells Jiraachi that he'll be his friend and will always protect him, and so Jiraachi wakes up and uses its power to teleport the bus to safety! Now that everyone is safe, a tired Jiraachi closes its eyes and goes back to sleep. As the bus resumes its journey, Absol looks on from a high cliff. The third night passes without incident. On the fourth night, Haruka asks Dianne if she's thinking about Butler. She says that she is, and explains how he used to be a nice person who loved pokemon and inventing things. Dianne says that in three days, Jiraachi will return to the Millennium Comet and Butler's research will come to an end. After that, Dianne hopes, the kind Butler from before will return to her. Masato overhears the conversation and thinks how three days isn't a long time. On the fifth night, Haruka is making another fold on her Wish Maker. Suddenly, Masato runs up to his sister and smacks the charm out of her hand and starts to cry, saying how it's unfair that he won't be able to see Jiraachi for another thousand years. After all, humans can't live that long! Satoshi tells Masato that he really understands how he's feeling, but that he needs to remember that Jiraachi is his partner right now. Masato says that Satoshi can't know how he feels because unlike Satoshi and his Pikachu, Masato only has seven days with his partner. Satoshi responds by saying that he has thought about the day when Pikachu may leave, but that he can't let that consume him. He tells Masato that by focusing on Jiraachi's eventual departure, he's not allowing himself to enjoy what little time he does have with the pokemon. Masato carefully thinks over Satoshi's words and agrees with him, and so he picks up Jiraachi and tells it that he'll try his best to create lots of happy memories for it to take back to Faunsu with him. And with that, our heroes arrive at Jiraachi's home, Faunsu.
Now that the gang has arrived at Faunsu, it is decided that they'll walk the rest of the way. As the gang starts exploring, Jiraachi excitedly bounces around, declaring its love for the place. Dianne explains that Jiraachi is able to absorb some of the energy from Faunsu, which in turn makes the pokemon very hyper and energetic. Jiraachi and Masato begin to run around and play for the remainder of the night. Later, after Masato and Jiraachi have fallen asleep, Haruka makes a sixth fold in her Wish Maker. She notices that her brother only has one day left with the pokemon and thinks of how difficult it will be for them to part ways. Meanwhile, Butler continues to head toward Faunsu on his Flying Laboratory. Butler says that he will surely revive Groudon before Jiraachi returns to the Millennium Comet and will show the Magma-Dan how foolish they were for doubting his genius. The seventh night has come, and our heroes are headed for the cave where Jiraachi lives. When they arrive at the cave's entrance, they are surprised to see the Absol from before standing in front of the opening! However, instead of attacking our heroes, Absol merely turns around and starts walking into the cave! Jiraachi tells everyone that Absol is going to guide them through the cave and that they shouldn't worry about it attacking them. As the gang walks through the cave, noticing the glowing rocks, they spot a Flygon who will also act as their guide through the cave. They soon reach an area where the sky can be seen and notice all the stars twinkling in the sky. Suddenly, a comet shoots through the air and Jiraachi starts to glow! Jiraachi says that the comet is calling him and starts to float toward the sky! Masato grabs onto his hand and starts to cry, saying that they must have a little time left. Jiraachi says that he has to go, but Masato won't hear it. The wish granting pokemon breaks out of Masato's grip and drifts away as the young boy calls out for his partner. Just then, Dianne notices that Jiraachi's True Eye is opening up. Satoshi asks what that is, and she responds by saying that the True Eye is what is used to absorb the energy from the Millennium Comet. Suddenly, a round, spiky orb falls from the sky and releases a force field that traps everyone in a dome of energy! Dianne recognizes the trap and looks up to find Butler standing on his Floating Laboratory! Butler taunts Satoshi for a bit, thanking him and his friends for befriending Jiraachi enough to get it to open up its True Eye. At that moment, a beam of energy shoots out of the bottom of Butler's Floating Laboratory and pulls Jiraachi out of the force field before it starts sucking away its energy! Satoshi sends out his Subame to rescue Jiraachi, but the pokemon can't pass the barrier that Butler's put up. Satoshi recalls his pokemon as Butler's lab starts to fly away, taking Jiraachi with it. The magician starts to laugh and tells our heroes to enjoy the show from where they're standing. On top of the laboratory, the fang of Groudon is encased in a glass cylinder on the southeast corner of the stage while Jiraachi is trapped in a device in the center. Butler thinks of how he's waited for this day before telling Jiraachi that the energy that it's collected from the Millennium Comet is being sucked out of it. Butler then directs Jiraachi's attention to a monitor, where a crosshair is seen zeroing in on Masato. A gun emerges from a turret on the bottom of the lab, and Butler tells Jiraachi that if it doesn't open up its True Eye before the count of three, he'll kill Masato! Jiraachi thinks of all the good times it's had with Masato and quickly opens its True Eye without hesitation. A huge beam of energy is drawn from the comet and into Jiraachi as Butler happily looks on. Meanwhile, the Rocket-Dan, who had been floating around nearby in their Nyasu balloon, get sucked into the beam from the comet and are sent blasting off again. At that moment, beams start emerging from the bottom of the flying laboratory and begin to burn an image of Groudon onto the ground below. Back on the ground, Masato tries his best to climb up the steep cave wall, saying that he has to save Jiraachi. Masato climbs and climbs until he reaches the barrier, which shocks the young boy and sends him falling toward the earth! Luckily, Masato is able to grab onto a section of the wall before he hits the ground. Everyone tells Haruka's brother to hang on as they wonder what they can do to escape. Suddenly, Absol fires a beam from the blade on its head and destroys the spiked ball that created the force field in the first place! Everyone cheers, but they are forced to stop short when Masato loses his grip and falls toward the earth! However, the Flygon from before swoops in and saves Masato, much to everyone's relief!! Elsewhere, Butler comments on how the pokemon is close to being revived. Suddenly, he looks into the distance and sees Masato, Satoshi, and Pikachu riding on a Flygon! Butler responds by sending out his Bormander, who uses a flame breath attack. Flygon dodges and responds with an attack of its own, which hits Bormander and sends it falling. Butler then steps up and starts shooting an energy beam from his magic wand, but Pikachu is able to deflect it with its Thunderbolt attack! While Butler is busy with the battle, Masato jumps onto the Flying Laboratory and sprints toward Jiraachi, remembering how he promised the pokemon that he would protect it. Masato puts his hand on the lever to release Jiraachi from its trap, but Butler uses his wand to electrocute Masato! The young boy endures the attack and pulls the lever down, screaming how he will protect Jiraachi! The energy stops, and Masato is able to pick up Jiraachi again! As the young boy hugs his partner, Butler laughs, saying that Masato was too late. His machine had gathered enough energy, and so Groudon will now be resurrected! Suddenly, the ground starts to shake, and Butler's Floating Laboratory begins to crash. Satoshi tells Masato to hurry up and get on Flygon, and the two young boys and their pokemon fly to safety. On the ground, Masato wonders if Jiraachi is all right. The pokemon's True Eye is still open, and Masato begins to blame himself for being too weak to protect it in time. The young boy starts to cry, and the tears hitting Jiraachi's face wake the pokemon up. The pokemon's True Eye begins to shut, and Satoshi congratulates Masato on all he's done. Suddenly, a blinding light can be seen in the sky, and Groudon appears! As everyone stares at the huge pokemon in horror, Butler begins to laugh, saying how he revived the legendary pokemon. A light builds up within Groudon before it emits a huge dome that sweeps across Faunsu! Absol starts running toward the pokemon to stop it, but its attack has no effect on the legendary pokemon. Groudon then sprouts gelatinous tentacles from the spikes along its back and uses one of them to absorb Absol into its body! As everyone looks on in terror, Dianne asks Butler what he's done. Butler responds, with a stunned look on his face, by saying that this creature is different from the Groudon he was trying to resurrect. Above, the
Rocket-Dan are back in their hot air balloon. Kojirou
exclaims that the forest is being turned into a desert before the
balloon is swallowed up by one of Groudon's tentacles. The
legendary pokemon continues to absorb pokemon as it sets its sights on
all the pokemon in the forest, so Satoshi and his friends make a run
for it. Haruka trips and falls, and Masato can only look on
helplessly as she is absorbed by one of Groudon's tentacles. As
Butler looks on in horror, he tries to talk himself into believing that
this is all a dream, ignoring the tentacle headed right for him.
Dianne notices, however, and throws herself in the tentacle's path to
save Butler. The magician snaps out of his trance in time to see
Dianne being absorbed into Groudon's body, much to his horror.
Satoshi and the others, who had paused for a moment to watch Butler and
Dianne, resume their escape, but Takeshi is caught as well.
Satoshi wonders what to do, and suddenly his answer flies in front of
him; Flygon! As Satoshi and Masato climb on the dragon pokemon's
back, Masato makes one more wish to Jiraachi: "I want to save
everyone!"
Butler is standing alone on the arid remains of the forest. He thinks of Dianne being absorbed by Groudon and becomes angry, so he stands up and states that he will defeat the monster that took Dianne away from him. Meanwhile, Satoshi has ordered Pikachu to use Thunderbolt on Groudon. The attack has no effect, but Masato won't give up - he orders Flygon to attack. Just as the flying pokemon is about to deliver a beam from its mouth, Groudon swipes his massive claw on a nearby cliff, causing it to crumble. The debris from the cliff starts to fall toward our heroes, and one of them hits Flygon's wing! Satoshi and Pikachu are jolted off the pokemon and begin to plummet toward the ground, but Jiraachi teleports Flygon underneath Satoshi to save him. Satoshi thanks Jiraachi for saving him, but he still has no idea on how to defeat Groudon and save everyone. Just then, Butler
appears, riding on his Bormander. Satoshi and
Masato become defensive, but Butler assures them that he's here to help
this time. He says that borrowing Jiraachi is the only way to
defeat the monster, but Masato remains suspicious. Butler states
that he knows that he's done some terrible things to Masato and his
friends, but says that he will risk his life to defeat the Groudon
monster! At that moment, a tentacle is seen heading straight for
Masato! Butler uses his wand to fire a beam that deflects the
tentacle, causing the gelatinous vine to hit him instead! Butler
is knocked off his Bormander, but he is saved when Jiraachi uses its
powers to teleport Bormander underneath its master. Masato gives
a
surprised look to Jiraachi, who says that it believes what Butler
said. Jiraachi flies over to the magician, who tells our heroes
to
distract Groudon while he makes the preparations necessary to harness
Jiraachi's energy. With that, the two teams fly off in opposite
directions.Satoshi and Masato, still riding on Flygon, order the pokemon to fly in under Groudon. The dragon-type obeys and flies between Groudon's legs, causing the pokemon to stick its head underneath to see what's going on. In doing so, the legendary pokemon loses its footing and falls down, causing Satoshi and Masato to cheer. The pokemon picks itself up and starts thrashing about wildly as Butler and Jiraachi land on his Flying Laboratory, which is now teetering off the top of a cliff. Butler tells Jiraachi that it can sap the energy from Groudon using the fang he collected earlier, but the item is knocked from his hand when one of Groudon's stray tentacles collides with the laboratory. However, the fang is saved when Flygon, with Masato and Satoshi still on its back, swoops down and catches the fang in its mouth! Butler takes the fang and sets it into his machine while Masato runs to the machine in the center and places Jiraachi in it. Butler runs to the central control panel and is about to pull the switch when a tentacle appears and knocks him into one of his machines! Butler wearily points to one of the machines and tells Masato to flip the switch before he faints. With all their might, Satoshi, Masato, and Pikachu combine their power to move the master lever. Groudon stops in its tracks and starts to glow before being expelled from the earth by an enormous blast of energy. The creature is sent blasting off high into the air before disappearing in a flashy explosion that lights up the night sky. All of the people and pokemon who were captured by Groudon are teleported back to earth! Masato runs up to Jiraachi, who asks Masato if he has one last wish. Masato says that it's already been granted, saying that having such a great partner is all he could wish for. Masato tells Jiraachi that he promises not to forget him before the wish making pokemon disappears into the Millennium Comet. The next morning, Satoshi and his friends are back on the road. Masato asks Haruka about her Wish Maker, and she responds by saying that she forgot about it! Satoshi says that it's better for her, since now she can grant her wishes using her own power. Just then, Dianne and Butler drive up to our heroes in their bus. The two say that they'll stay in Faunsu to help the area become green again, which makes everyone happy. As Dianne and Butler drive off, everyone waves good-bye to them. Suddenly, Masato hears Jiraachi's voice! As Haruka and the others ask what's wrong, Jiraachi tells Masato that it won't say good-bye because Masato will always be in its heart. | Story Synopsis | Differences
