Here is a list of the characters who have appeared in Pocket Monsters Special BW Version.

Name:  Black (ブラック)
Pokemon in Hand:  Mun'na ("Musha"), Wargle ("War"), Pokabu

Black
Black is a young trainer who dreams of going to the Pokemon League and facing off against the Four Heavenly Emperors.  Despite the fact that he already has two pokemon at the start of the series, he camps out at Araragi-Hakase's laboratory overnight to receive a starter pokemon.  Black eventually chooses Pokabu as his starter pokemon.

Whenever Black feels lost and needs to calm down, his Mun'na hops onto his head and starts to devour his dreams.  His friend Cheren explains that his head is filled with the dream of winning the Pokemon League to the exclusion of everything else.  When Mun'na eats Black's dreams, his head becomes empty, clearing his thoughts and allowing him to focus.  In Japanese, the phrase "the inside of your head is white"
(頭の中が真っ白になる) is used to describe people who don't know what to do.

His mother lives in Kanoko Town.  Black is friends with Cheren and Bel.  Curiously, a line spoken by Black in the first chapter
(9年間、この日をまち続けていたんだ!) suggests that he is nine years old.

He is based on the male protagonist of Black & White.

Black first appears in the opening chapter of Pocket Monsters Special BW Version.

Cheren
Name:  Cheren (チェレン)
Pokemon in Hand:  Tsutarja
Cheren is Black's and Bel's friend.  He goes to Araragi-Hakase's laboratory to receive a starter pokemon and ends up with Tsutarja because, according to Bel, it's the pokemon that resembles him the most.  Later, Cheren explains how Mun'na helps Black out by clearing his head of all thought.

He is based on the character in Pocket Monsters Black & White of the same name.

Cheren first appears in the opening chapter of Pocket Monsters Special BW Version.

Name:  Bel (ベル)
Pokemon in Hand:  Mijumaru

Bel
Bel is Black's and Cheren's friend.  She goes to Araragi-Hakase's laboratory to receive a starter pokemon.  When Cheren isn't looking, she chooses Tsutarja for him, leaving Mijumaru all to herself.

She is based on the character in Pocket Monsters Black & White of the same name.

Bel appears in the opening chapter of Pocket Monsters Special BW Version.

Name:  Araragi-Hakase (アララギ博士)
Pokemon in Hand:  Chillarmy

Araragi-Hakase is a professor based in Kanoko Town, a small town in the Isshu Region.  She had to go away on business, so she had the parcel containing the three starter pokemon delivered to her lab.  When she finally got back to town, however, she found the package in shambles!  Pokabu and one of the Pokemon Zukan were missing, both Tsutarja and Mijumaru were covered in dirt and injuries, and the two Pokemon Zukan that remained wouldn't power on!  The professor chases after Black to demand an explanation.

She is based on the character in Pocket Monsters Black & White of the same name.

Araragi-Hakase appears in the opening chapter of Pocket Monsters Special BW Version.
