Publication Date: June 30th, 1999 ?? Pages (CoroCoro Comics Special), 32 pages (graphic novel collection) Satoshi's leaving the Navel Gym after earning his third Orange League badge when he suddenly rejoins his old traveling companion Kasumi! The two are on the way to Yuzu Island, the site of Satoshi’s final gym challenge, when they end up rescuing the Gym Leader's younger sister, Marie, from the clutches of a thrashing whirlpool. Marie thanks her saviors by guiding them to the Yuzu Gym. There, her older brother Ziggy makes a shocking announcement; he's decided to take Kasumi as his bride! Satoshi ignores all that and remains focused on his original goal, successfully completing both the target practice and dance-off portions of the gym challenge. This grants him access to a three-on-three Pokémon battle with Ziggy to determine both his ability to join the Orange League and Kasumi’s future! Ziggy wins round one when his Eleboo showers Satoshi’s Pikachu with a flurry of Thunder Punches, but Satoshi claims the victory in round two when his Fusigidane uses Sleep Powder to knock out Ziggy's Nassy. The third and final round pits Satoshi's Zenigame against Ziggy's Starmie. The Gym Leader's Pokémon surprises Satoshi with a Thunderbolt attack but Zenigame is able to shake it off and defeat its opponent with a combination of Hydro Pump and Skull Bash. Satoshi wins the Gym Badge and Kasumi’s freedom but Marie is sad Kasumi isn't going to become her big sister after all! Ziggy comes up with a brilliant (?) solution: he’ll dress up as a woman and become Marie’s big sister instead…!? Notes This chapter borrows elements from Pocket Monsters (1997) Episode 103 "Yuzu Gym! A Three on Three Type Battle!" English Verison Edits When Kasumi's criticizing Satoshi's fashion choices, she mentions they're "yellow and blue" (イエローアンドブルー). In Viz's version Misty says they're "pink and blue" instead. Yuzu Island is referred to as "Citron Island" instead of "Trovita Island." Yuzu Gym is still referred to as the "Trovita Gym," however. The pattern from Marie's dress is removed from the Viz version.
