"Kyurem vs. The Sacred Swordsman Keldeo" - Weeks Four and Five
August 17th, 2012

Dogasu @ 12:22 EDT --  Oh hey, look at the time zone there!

I didn't tell you guys this, but I've been in the U.S. for the past week visiting family and friends here.  So, that's been pretty fun!  I forgot how cool (and also frustrating!) this country can be sometimes.  Definitely glad to be back home, though, even if it's only for another five days or so.

Me being home has also meant that working on this website hasn't been a huge priority of mine.  I can't very well ignore my family and friends I haven't seen in nearly two years to go clacking away at my keyboard about a Japanese kids' cartoon, after all!  I do have a little bit of free time now, however, so I thought I'd pop in and do a quick update.
"Kyurem vs. The Sacred Swordsman Keldeo"

First, the box office figures for Kyurem vs. The Sacred Swordsman Keldeo's fourth and fifth weeks!  It's kind of interesting to see how well the latest Pocket Monsters movie has been able to remain in the top five while other movies come and go.

Next, Amazon's added a listing for the first (Region 1) Pokémon Black & White DVD box set!

Black & White

The two disc set is due out November 20th and will contain the first twelve episodes of the season.  There are 48 episodes in the season (no, TPCI does not count the skipped Plasma episodes as part of the season, get over it people), so basic math tells us that Viz is planning to do four sets altogether.

Also, speaking of the Plasma episodes, I've updated the part of my write-up on this page about TV-Tokyo's website not updating the "Coming Soon" box.  I'll update the Timeline with Sakaki's upcoming appearance in Best Wishes! Season 2 when we have a little more information about it.

Finally, I've updated the List of TV Episodes.

I doubt I'll be able to update again during my stay in the U.S., but if I do it won't be until Monday.  Hope you guys all have a great weekend!

Pocket Monsters Special - July 2012
August 5th, 2012

Dogasu @ 09:47 JST --  Summaries of the two Pocket Monsters Special chapters that came out last month - the one that was in Issue 24 of Pokemon Fan and the one that was in the September 2012 issue of CoroCoro Ichiban! - have now been added to the series' page in the Manga Guide.

Pokemon Fan Issue 24
CoroCoro Ichiban! September 2012

Also, last week's box office rankings for Kyurem vs. The Sacred Swordsman Keldeo have been added to the movie's page.  The film's now number five at the Japanese box office, being beaten out by Umizaru, Dark Knight Rises (which is called Dark Knight Rising in Japan, I assume because it sounds better to Japanese speakers?), the new Naruto movie, and that Wolf movie that came out last week.  Only the plus side, it's passed the 1.5 billion yen mark, so at least it's still a very successful film, all things considered.

Speaking of movies, the box art for the upcoming Blu-Ray movie set has been revealed!

Blu-Ray Box Set

I'm not so sure I would have gone with that rather Christmas-y looking red and green color scheme, but it's still a nice looking package nonetheless.  Amazon Japan's selling the set for 28,100 yen (over 10,000 yen off the suggested retail price!), so I'm thinking they're the ones I'll be buying this set from.

Hulu

Next, the Japanese Hulu site has started uploading episodes of Pocket Monsters and Pocket Monsters Best Wishes! Here's their page for Pocket Monsters (OMG that image of Satoshi there is going to be in my nightmares), here's their page for Pocket Monsters Best Wishes!, and here's their page for Pocket Monsters Best Wishes! Season 2.  According to the official blog for the Kyurem movie, the site will upload the newest episodes of Best Wishes! the Friday after they air on TV-Tokyo.  It's worth noting that the Japanese Hulu site is a paid site in addition to being IP locked, so this news actually isn't as awesome as it could be.  Still, though, episodes of Pocket Monsters being uploaded to the Internet, legally!  It's about time you joined the 21st century, OLM!!

Finally, I've added the North American release date for Pokédex 3D Pro to the Video Games Guide.  And while I'm on the subject:  the app is actually quite hefty (3,309 blocks), so I had to end up replacing the 2GB SD card in my 3DS with a larger capacity one before I could buy this one.  I'm sure the 30-some Theatrhythm Final Fantasy songs and all the Virtual Console games I had downloaded also contributed to that, but still.  The app will be out in the US on October 11th, 2012.
