HeartGold & SoulSilver Track Listings, Dotchi ~ Nyo? CD announced

Dogasu @ 02:09 JST -- Well, it took a while, but I've finally finished posting the track listing for the soundtrack to Pocket Monsters HeartGold & SoulSilver. The three-CD set contains a grand total of 270 tracks and appears to be fairly comprehensive, so it looks like it'll be worth the $28 or so that CD Japan's asking for.
I'm still not quite happy with the way the CD Guide is laid out, so if you guys have any feedback / suggestions, drop me a line. Like I said in the previous update, I would really like to collapse the track listings for a lot of those discs, but I lack the html know-how to pull that off successfully. Suggestions?
In addition, it looks like a CD single for the current ending theme, Dotchi ~ Nyo?, is set to be released in December.
Crystal Kay article up on the Japan Times website

Dogasu @ 12:57 JST -- The website for The Japan Times - an English-language newspaper aimed toward foreigners living in Japan - has recently posted an interesting article about Crystal Kay. Crystal Kay, for those of you who don't remember, is the artist who performed the ending theme to last year's Pocket Monsters movie, Giratina and the Sky Bouquet, Shami. The article mainly deals about how much she's accomplished in the ten years she's been on the Japanese music scene, how she's opened the door for bi-racial artists over here (she's half Korean, half American), and her interpretations about what types of songs the Japanese public wants to listen to. This one quote really stood out to me:
If you look at the translation of One, I think you'll see a lot of what she talks about here to be out in full force here.
The ending theme that she worked on, by the way, is on the compilation CD that the article mentions. So that's kind of my six degrees of separation connection there.
As far as the HeartGold and SoulSilver CD track listing goes...I'm not quite finished with that yet. I had wanted to do some collapsing text thing so that the text box wouldn't be huuuuuuuge, but the html required is proving to be a lot more difficult than I had anticipated. So until I can figure that out, I'll just be listing all 270 tracks on one page. Even if it'll make the page as a whole look like complete crap.
Finally, it appears that, according to the newest issue of Nintendo Power, there will be an Arceus event at Toys 'R' Us stores in the U.S. from November 7th until November 15th. Can we expect Arceus and the Jewel of Life to air on Cartoon Network around that time...?
Image problem fixed

Dogasu @ 01:00 JST -- That image problem I had with the page for the CDs coming out in 2009? Yeah, that's fixed now. I've also added what I'm assuming is going to be the cover art for the HeartGold & SoulSilver soundtrack coming out later this month.
The official Japanese website has a track listing up, but it's a bit late for me to be translating close to 300 track names. Maybe tomorrow.
In other news...why does the logo for PokePark Wii Pikachu's Big Adventure logo use the American Pokémon font?
New DS to be announced at the end of 2010

Dogasu @ 00:47 JST -- Quick late night update for you guys.
Kotaku reports that graphics chip maker nVidia has been awarded a contract to produce the Tegra chip for Nintendo's next handheld console. The current Tegra chip is an extremely powerful graphics chip that's about ten times more powerful than the DS' current ARM946E-S chip, so everything is pointing to this new handheld being a true successor to the DS rather than a simple upgrade. According to the article Kotaku links to, Nintendo is set to announce the new handheld in late 2010, which has people speculating that it will actually come out in time for Christmas 2011.
While I still think it's entirely feasible for Generation V to show up on the DS, the fact that we have an announcement of an announcement, as it were, opens up the door for all sorts of speculation.
New movie information, PokePark stuff

Dogasu @ 15:30 JST -- So you know that image problem I've been having? Well, it seems like the problem's more or less been found, and so now I'm just waiting for things on the server side to resolve itself. So, in the meantime, it looks like I won't be able to make any updates that require me to link to images in another folder.
So, let me get some text-only updates for you guys.
First up is news of a fourth Diamond & Pearl movie. Nothing is really known about the movie except that a) it will be coming out next summer, most likely in July, and b) the location hunting for the film took place in Belgium and the Netherlands. Other than that, we don't know anything.
A lot of people are convinced that the movie is going to star Ho'ou and Lugia based on the teaser trailer shown at the end of Arceus - To the Conquering of Spacetime and currently playing on the new movie's official site. Y'know...as if the trailers, much less a teaser trailer, is composed of anything other than footage made exclusively for promotion purposes. Remember how Regigigas was made out to be the main pokemon in the Giratina and the Sky Bouquet - Shami teaser? Or how Alberto was made out to be a villain and how we see Satoshi riding on (what we assume to be) his Pigeot in the Dialga vs. Palkia vs. Darkrai trailers?
The trailers have been misleading as hell since the very beginning. Yet every year, we still get people - many of whom have been in the fandom long enough to know better - who insist that everything in the trailer is actually going to make it to the final product and that believing otherwise if foolish. It seems like a good portion of the fanbase seems to get a sudden case of amnesia the second a new trailer comes out. It's annoying as hell.
At this point, we don't even know what role, if any, Hou'ou and Lugia will play in the final film.
I've also updated the List of Anime Episodes.
Finally, in video game news, it looks like the Rakuten site has provided a description of the upcoming Pokepark Wii Pikachu's Big Adventure game coming out in December. According to the site:
Various online stores report that those who pre-order the game will receive a Pikachu 3D sticker for your Wii Remote.
Those of you who follow this site's Facebook page will know that I was able to pick up a few CDs the other day over in Akihabara. One of those CDs was, coincidentally, the theme song used for the PokePark, "Hello, Thank You." The little booklet that came with the CD has a breakdown of all the attractions at the old park, so I decided that it might be worthwhile to translate all of that for you guys.
The new Wii game may base some of its attractions on these; the "Pikachu's Forest" attraction could be the basis for the "forest" attraction(s) mentioned in Rakuten's summary while "Lugia's Spiraling Ship" and "Alto Mare's Sightseeing Ship" could be the basis for the "sea" parts.
There are some other stuff about being able to take in-game pictures and sending them to your SD card, but the only source I've been able to find for that kind of information is a blog that doesn't cite its source.
The only other thing about this game that I can think of is that it's going to retail for 4,800 yen. The only other game I can think of that went for that price point was Wii Sports Resort; just about everything else for the Wii either goes for 5,800 or 6,800 yen.
If the image problem isn't resolved soon, I'll make another text-only update in the next few days.

I've updated the Video Games section with more information about HeartGold and SoulSilver, the North American release date for Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon - Sky Rescue Team, and the English title for Melee! Pokemon Scramble.
While on the subject of video games, let's talk about how HeartGold and SoulSilver are doing here in Japan, shall we? In its first weekend, the remakes of Gold and Silver sold an impressive 1.5 million copies, according to Kotaku. That's a record among Pocket Monsters games, but it still falls waaaaay short of the record Dragon Quest IX set this past July.
And now that the "newness" of the game has worn off (well, as new as a remake of a ten-year old game can be, anyway), it seems like the sales are beginning to slow donw. According to Kotaku, the games have fallen down to number two (HeartGold) and number three (SoulSilver), being overtaken by Tomadachi Collection, a game that came out in June. Ouch.
In other news...you know that Wii game I was talking about a few posts ago? Well, a listing for a new game called Pokepark Wii Pikachu's Big Adventure (ポケパークWiiピカチュウ大冒険) has popped up on Amazon. The site is listing the game as having a December 5th, 2009 release date.
The PokePark, for those of you who don't know, was a pokemon-themed theme park that was up in Japan (and later, Taiwan) from 2005 until 2006.
The question, of course, is...why make a game based on a theme park that's been shut down for years?

First of all, I've posted the lyrics to the newest ending theme to air in Japan, Dotchi ~ Nyo?. I've even posted a translation for you guys so you guys can know what it is, exactly, that the song's talking about. It's still a random-as-hell song even with the translation, but that's part of the fun!
I've also updated the List of Anime Episodes with a bunch of Japanese titles as well as a few more English titles.
Finally, I've updated the DVD Guide with an entry for the DVD release for Arceus - To the Conquering of Spacetime. It comes out December 18th and looks to have all of the same features that the previous DVD release had, so that will be something to look forward to. I went into the main Arceus - To the Conquering of Spacetime page and added information about the release as well as a North American release date and up-to-date ticket sales.
I'm working on a few things at the moment that I hope to be able to post very soon.
