Lyrics Archive
April 28th, 2008

Dogasu @ 07:43 JST -- So that whole thing about finishing the layout stuff by this weekend obviously isn't going to happen.  Sorry about that.

I did manage to get the Lyrics Archive converted to the new layout, though.  Unfortunately, I didn't take the time to redo each page (I have no idea why I thought it'd be a good idea to write each katakana word in ALL CAPS).  I also didn't get to get some better, DVD-quality screencaps for each page.  But someday...

I've also updated the List of Anime Episodes with the actual episode titles for DP 080 and DP 081.  Posting fake titles is embarrassing :(

Also...check out this web comic, Super Effective!  Apparently, the VG Cats comics, people (guy?) has all these ideas swirling around in their heads for Pokemon-themed comics, so instead of cluttering up the main site with these comics, they decided to post them all in a mini-site instead.  They'll apparently be working their way through the storyline of Pokemon FireRed, so they should be posting comics for quite a while.  I could make a really mean comment about the suckiness of some other web comic right now, but...naaah.  It's too easy.

Until next time!

No voice actor "debates" going on here!
April 23rd, 2008

Dogasu @ 23:53 JST -- I'm actually staying up later than I want to to have this up before the end of the day.  But I guess that's better than reneging on the promise I made to have this layout business done by the end of the week, isn't it?

So the Voice Actors Guide has been converted to the new layout.  The section, like the CD Guide, is one that is long overdue for a massive overhaul, but that won't happen right away.  I don't even think there's any information about the Advanced Generation characters on there!  I've also replaced some of the pictures with DVD screencaps since having crappy TV screencaps is sooooooooo 1998.

I know the banner doesn't look so great right now...I'll be sure to fix it in the morning.

I've also updated the List of Anime Episodes with new Japanese titles.

Tomorrow afternoon I'll be busy with a Japanese lesson, so the next update may not come until Friday.

Those discs with the holes in the middle

Dogasu @ 22:11 JST -- I've done some more layout stuff, but don't worry!  There's some content updates as well!

The CD Guide has been converted to the newer layout.  That section is loooooong overdue for a major overhaul, but if I stopped to do something like that now, this update would have been delayed even more than it already has.  Since I am trying to get back to a semi-regular update schedule, that's not all that appealing, so that revamp's going to have to wait for a bit.

The biggest update, though, is the DVD Guide.  Aside from converting all the pages to the newer layout, I've also added information about all the DVDs that have been announced since the section was last updated.  That would include the Orange Islands box set, the Battle Frontier box set, the Darkrai movie, and the new batch of "Best Collection" Region 2 DVDs.

My goal for this week is to have the rest of the site converted to the new layout so I can start spending time actually updating this site again.  I don't have that much left to do and don't have a whole lot going on this week, so it might actually get done.  Fingers crossed.

In the meantime, read this story about a smoker who used Pokemon to kick the habit.  Fun, anecdotal stuff.

Edit:  I forgot to actually add the link to the smoker story.  Whoops!  It's up now.

Checking in
April 15th, 2008

Dogasu @ 18:56 JST -- It's been ages since my last update, hasn't it?  I hope I didn't lose too many of you through apathy or anything like that.

So I guess I should explain my absense.  I went to the States, like I said in my last post.  I was there for about a week and a half, but I didn't really have the time to update my site.  Part of the reason for that is that one of my relatives surprised me with a new laptop, so I had to spend a lot of my computer time transferring files from one computer to the next.  Another reason was that I was too busy enjoying America to bother with a website update :P

While I was home, I was at least able to pick up a few of the DVDs I didn't have, so I'll be able to use those in future site updates.  One of the DVDs I bought was the second Indigo DVD set, which wasn't out the last time I was back home.  Oddly enough, I couldn't find the Manaphy movie anywhere, so I guess that'll have to wait.

I've been back in Japan for about a week, but my new Japanese Wii and my copies of Smash Brothers X and Mario Kart Wii have been keeping me pretty busy.  WiiWare has been out here for a little while, but the Pokemon game for it doesn't appeal to me one bit, so I won't be doing any features on it or anything.  I've picked up a new manga, The Mysterious Thief! Pokemon 7, so I plan to do a section on that sometime in the future.  In the meantime, you can read the posts I've made in the thread over on Bulbagarden.  I hope Viz picks it up soon.

I've also been able to pick up those Diamond & Pearl DVDs from this page.  I haven't had a chance to actually look at them yet, but I'll try to take a quick peak at them later to let you guys know if there's any extras or anything like that on them.  A second set of discs is being released in July, according to PocketMonsters.net, giving fans a chance to own even more episodes of the series.  Neat.

In other, actual news...it looks like Oha Star!, the kid's program that revealed the title of the Giratina movie in December, will reveal some new information about the movie on Thursday morning's episode.  The new information will apparently include the voice actors who will make special guest appearances and a new trailer for the film.  In other movie news, it's been revealed that Giratina and the Sky Bouquet, Shami will be debuting on the very same day as the newest Studio Ghibli / Miyazaki Hayao film Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea.  OUCH.  So much for this movie grabbing the number one spot on its opening weekend.

I've updated the Episode List with new Japanese and English titles.  Can't believe Season 11's here already.

I'll get back on track with the updates later this week.  Just a little further to go before these damned layout updates are finished!
