New(ish) Layout!

So I'm trying to figure out a good layout for this site. I've been putting it off for a while because I've always thought that the time spent on a new layout could be time spent on new content for the site. But at the same time, I've been using the same, boring layout for years now and I think it's about time I change things up a little.
As you can see, I didn't change too much, and the front page is the only thing that's different. Still, if you would be so kind, please drop me a line at my new e-mail address, [email protected], and let me know what you think. Once I get some feedback, I'll tweak a few things here and there and start working to make the rest of the site consistent with what I've done to this front page.
I don't have any content update this time, but I do have some news:
In manga news (now that's a phrase I haven't gotten to use in a while), pokeyug over at Bulbagarden found a listing on Amazon.com for the English version of Pokemon DP by Ihara Shigekatsu (the same guy who did the Pocket Monsters Emerald Challenge!! Battle Frontier! manga). The English version of the manga, entitled Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure, looks like it'll retain the Japanese names for the manga-only characters (Hareta and Mitsumi) and will most likely run right-to-left the way Ginji's Rescue Team was.
Volume 1 comes out April 1st, 2008. Volume 2 comes out July 1st, 2008.
Usually, I would do a big section for the series for the manga page, but since I don't have a scanner over here, the whole thing would be text. That's not a very attractive idea to me, so I might wait a little while before I start adding information about the series to the site.
There's also a new site, Darkrai.com, that has some infromation about the English version of the first Diamond & Pearl movie entitled "The Rise of Darkrai." Way to shun Dialga and Palkia, PUSA. Anyway, judging from the synopsis on the site, Alamos Town, Alice, and Baron Alberto keep their original names in the dub. So that's pretty exciting.

Having the flu sucks. Luckily, there's a hospital (which is more of a doctor's office than a proper "hospital," but whatever) near my apartment that diagnosed me with the illness and gave me some medicine to take care of it. The best part of it was that my health insurance covered like 70% of the visit, meaning I only had to pay like twenty-five bucks for the visit and the medicine.
Anyway, the point of the story is that the flu has prevented me from making the updates I wanted to make this weekend. I was told to take the next two days off of work, so I'll try to update again in between sessions of watching Futurama DVD's and playing Final Fantasy VI Advance.
The first update I have is a comparison for "The Electrike Company!" I also fixed a mistake in the comparison for "Sharpedo Attack!"...apparently, I mixed up one of the episode titles in the Thoughts section, so I corrected it. I've also added a note about the cut footage from "Drifloon On The Wind!" in the comparison for that episode. Apparently, the footage was shown in the Australian airings of the episode...
I've also updated the Nintendo DS page with the English title for the second set of Mystery Dungeon games (aka the-ugliest-game-on-the-Nintendo-DS-ever), the American release date for those games, and the official Japanese website for Pokemon Ranger Batnage.
The Episode Guide also gets an update.
I also wanted to share this with you. Kotaku has posted a "news story" that finally answers the question "What does the word Pikachu mean?" It'd be a great article if this was the year 1997 and this information was new.
Finally, I wanted to officially call BS on Serebii.net's claim that he's "known about [Lucario and Jigglypuff being playable in Brawl] for several months." Please.

I've got tons and tons of news here. Where do I start?
Also, if you look at the Nintendo DS section, you'll see a write-up for the new Pokemon Ranger game coming out in Japan in two months. The full title of the game is Pokemon Ranger Batnage...the last word there is written out as バ トナージ in Japanese, and I suspect it's a combination of バトル ("battle") and some word ending in -nage.
One thing I keep seeing reported on sites is that the main hero of the game is named "Hajime." I don't believe this is the case. Sure, there's a screenshot that, when translated from Japanese into English, reads something like "Hajime received a Mission!" But the thing is...hajime is the Japanese word for "beginning." While the word has been used as a name before, I really do think it's just a generic name used for the purpose of showing off the game. Similar to how screenshots in a Dragon Warrior instruction manual will name the main character "Enix" even though that's not really his real name. Unless the name reappears in future screenshots, I'd hold off on calling the guy Hajime for the time being.
Moving on to the anime, there have been a bunch of new episode titles revealed, so check out the Episode List. On the Japanese side of things, there's a really exciting title being passed around at the moment, but I don't want to post it until it's confirmed to be real. On the dub side of things, it looks like Cartoon Network will be airing all three episodes of the tag battle arc on February 1st starting at 7:00pm ET. I guess the network is intent on making the inevitable drought of new episodes even longer than necessary, huh?
Also, it looks like Toonami Jetstream is now showing old Kanto episodes on the service. But for some reason, "Pokémon Paparrazi" is the episode they decided to start with. Weird.
I've also added a screenshot to the lyrics page for The Message of the Wind. And, while I'm at it, here's a lyric-less screenshot of the Satoshi ouendan scene. It's not the best Photoshop job, but I'm sure some of you can find a use for it. Click on the image for a full-sized version:
The next update will be a new episode comparison. I plan to make this the month that I finish the comparisons for all of PUSA's episodes, so that's something I'm definitely looking forward to. My site's eighth birthday is also coming up, so hopefully I'll be able to pull something together for that.

Happy 2008 everyone! Hopefully, you guys had a great vacation. My friends came, we hung out, we spent like a week in Tokyo, and we spent a lot of time just being in Japan. It was a great vacation.
Now that they're gone and the new semester has started, I guess it's time to start updating the site again. Today I'm just going to post a few news items that I've seen floating around; I'm still playing catch-up since I got zero Internet time in within the past two weeks, so please bear with me.
The first bit of news is that the ending theme to Diamond & Pearl changed today. The song is called Message of the Wind, and I went ahead and typed up the lyrics for it. That's right! A mere forty minutes (or so) after the episode aired on Japanese TV, I have the lyrics up. Technology is great!
Next up, I have a few new English episode titles. This batch is special to me because the episodes whose English titles have just been revealed were the first episodes that I watched on Japanese TV when I arrived here back in August. Who would have known that a mere four months later, I'd be watching it in English? Weird.
It also looks like PUSA is skipping the clip show episode.
Speaking of PUSA...it seems that TAJ Productions, the recording studio being used by Pokémon USA, will no longer be working on the English dub of the series. The story was broken by an e-mail was received from Larry Juris, an assistant producer over at TAJ Productions. In it, Mr. Juris states that they aren't working on Pokémon anymore.
What does that mean for the future of the English version? Sarah Natochenny explains on her MySpace page:
So there you have it. No voice actor change (again)...PUSA just found another recording studio in New York to work for them. Since Pokémon USA pretty much makes all the decisions about the music and the script and whatnot, don't expect this change in studios to mean any significant changes in the English version of the show. The voice actors will just be reporting to a different building when they go to work. That's it.
Don't know when my next update will be, but I hope to have something for you guys shortly.

I've got tons and tons of news here. Where do I start?
I guess I'll start with the Video Games
section. You may have noticed a few additions - mainly, a section
devoted to the Wii Ware
and
Virtual Console titles available for download on the Wii.
After you look at that, take a look at the Wii section for the "I know it was
released months ago but I'm only just now adding it to my site" box art
for Smash Brothers Brawl.
I've also updated the page with the game's new, later release date :(
