Hey!
Remember when I used to
do Episode Comparisons?
December 27th, 2005 I hope everyone had / is having a Happy Holiday. My Christmas was pretty awesome, with me getting all sorts of anime and manga that will keep me busy for days. So anyway, I've finally posted a new Episode Comparison; this one is from two weeks ago, "Once in a Mawile." I'm going to try to pick up the pace and start catching up on these things, which should be easier since I'm not in school at the moment. So you may have heard a few days ago the news about 4Kids passing on the rights of Pokemon to PUSA. There's been all this crazy speculation about what the press release means and the future of the dub, and I for one am sick of the amount of misinformation being spread around the Internet about it. So let me see if I can spell this out as clearly as possible: THE DUB
WILL NOT BE AFFECTED IN ANY WAY.
The only thing that's changing is the merchandising; from now on, PUSA will be getting all the profits from any Pokemon merchandise sold, not 4Kids. THAT'S IT. No VA changes, no changes in the show's translation, nothing. JUST THE MERCHANDISING. It's really crazy to see people who still believe that they're going to stop dubbing the show and that we'll be getting subbed DVD's all of a sudden. I think part of it has to do with the report on Anime News Network that supposedly "confirms" that 4Kids won't be dubbing the show anymore, but the line that everyone's been quoting (In addition, ANN has learned that 4Kids will not be producing or distributing the English language version of the next Pokemon TV series to be released in North America, Battle Frontier) doesn't prove jack squat. "ANN has learned"? From whom? PUSA? 4Kids? A fansite? Pokemon message boards? People are so quick to believe Anime News Network just because it's Anime News Network that they ignore the fact that the article in question doesn't list any sources and is therefore not all that reliable. Sorry folks. If there is any change, though, I predict that it'll be similar to the change that occurred when Miramax took over the movie rights from Warner Brothers. Which really wasn't that big a change at all. I ordered the Japanese Myuu and the Wave-Guiding Hero, Lucario DVD and the soundtrack to the movie last week, so they should be in any day now. When they do arrive, I plan to update the horribly out-of-date AG Movie 03 section. Finishing Touches December 21st, 2005 Hey everyone. I went ahead and finished the page on the author of the Jiraachi manga, so you can read about Oh'uchi Suigun here. I've also redone the main Manga page because the old version was boring and ugly. I know that the current layout isn't the greatest, but it'll do for now. I'll have an episode comparison up in a few days. Jiraachi manga! December 18th, 2005 Well, I promised you guys the manga section by the end of this weekend, and as of this writing, I have thirty minutes left, so I guess I just *barely* made it. Here ya go. I'll finish up the information on the author and integrate the section into the rest of the Movie AG 01 page with the next update. TV Schedule December 14th, 2005 I've been sick lately, so I haven't been able to get all the work done that I've wanted to. I did manage to update the TV Schedule for the first time in two months, though. If you guys think back to the news from a few months ago, you'll remember that December will be the last month Kids' WB! has a weekday afternoon block. Starting in January, the block will be scrapped in favor of whatever programming your local Kids' WB! affiliate wants to put on. I'm almost finished with the section for the Jiraachi manga. Yeah, I know, you've all heard that before, but I'm serious this time. All I really need to do is make some scans and it'll more or less be done. I'll try my best to get the section up by this weekend. As far as episode comparisons go, I won't be able to start on those until this weekend because my computer is being too slow to get anything done. School is over!!! December 9th, 2005 Hey everybody, I've got good news for you. I just finished my last exam today, meaning that my scholarly obligations have all been fulfilled. So now I have nothing but free time and will be able to resume updating the site at a pace more frequent than once every two weeks. So first I'll direct you to the biggest update of the day - a section of AG Movie 04, Pokemon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea! I tried to collect as much information as I could on next year's film, so as far as I can tell, this is all we know about the movie so far. I've also updated the Episode Title list with the latest Japanese titles. I'll try to resume the episode comparisons within the next day or so.
