Monsters The Origin
The stage: The Kanto Region!
The adventure is about to begin for a young boy named Red as he receives a Hitokage as his starter partner from a well-known pokemon professor named Orchid-Hakase! With the Pokemon Zukan he received from the professor in hand, Red and his Hitokage will travel around the Kanto Region, meeting new people and engaging in battles along the way! Among those battles will be matches with his rival Green and the Gym Leader Takeshi. He will also fight against the evil organization known as the Rocket-Dan after they've taken over the Pokemon Tower. On top of all this, there will be a grand battle against Sakaki, the boss of the Rocket-Dan, as well as an encounter with an unknown pokemon! The nostalgia filled adventures of Pocket Monsters Red & Green are being resurrected in this brand new animation!
The special was announced at the Pokemon Game Show (ポケモンゲームショー), an event held in Tokyo, Japan on August 17th - 18th, 2013. The tagline for this special is "To everyone who played Pocket Monsters Red & Green" (「ポケットモンスター赤・緑」を遊んだみんなへ). Unlike every other animated special that's aired up to this point, this one is airing on a Wednesday evening, not a Thursday. The special is being divided into four "reports," or episodes:
For the days leading up to the broadcast of the special, the official Japanese Pokemon Twitter posted well-known quotes from the Red and Green games to serve as a countdown to the special's airing. All four of these quotes ended up being used in the special.
The official Japanese Pokemon Twitter also claimed that new information regarding the video games Pocket Monsters X & Y will be revealed during the broadcast of Pocket Monsters The Origin. That new information ended up being the official reveal of Mega Lizardon X, a Mega Evolution for Lizardon exclusive to Pocket Monsters X.
Music from Pocket Monsters The Origin will be included in the soundtrack for the Pocket Monsters X & Y video games, Nintendo 3DS Pokemon X & Y Super Music Collection.
