The following is an image gallery that documents all of the edits made from the original version of The Birth of Mewtwo to the Kanzenban version. Screenshots from the original theatrical version, taken from the American Mewtwo Returns DVD release, are on the left while ones from the Kanzenban version, taken from the Japanese DVD release of Mewtwo Strikes Back!, are on the right. The effect used when Ai appears is different.

Shadows have been removed from under Ai and Mewtwo.

The pokemon's shadows are removed as well.

It's hard to see here in the thumbnail, but the images on the computer screen have been altered. The shadow on the capsule containing Ai's hologram has been corrected as well.

The animators forgot to draw a sky there.



I liked the unaltered version seen on the American DVD way better.


In the original version that's on the Mewtwo Returns DVD, the sky changes colors twice. In the Japanese DVD release, the sky only changes color once.
