A pamphlet went on sale at movie theaters across Japan when Pocket Monsters The Movie "Lord of the "Unknown" Tower ENTEI" & "Pichu and Pikachu" was released. This page translates key portions of the Japanese language guide into English.

The pamphlet begins with a message from Supervisor Tsunekazu Ishihara.




The second movie, Revelation Lugia, is being released in the U.S. at around the same time as Lord of the "Unknown" Tower ENTEI, the third movie in the series, is coming out here in Japan. And on top of that, the first movie, Mewtwo Strikes Back, is currently playing throughout Europe. Mewtwo Strikes Back started being released throughout Europe at the beginning of this April, one country after the other, but there are still a lot of places like Iceland and Cyprus that are still waiting. In Japan Mewtwo Strikes Back was released in over three hundred movie theaters but in America the number of theaters surpassed three thousand. And over in Europe, the movie was screened in 639 theaters in France, 712 in Germany, 635 in the U.K., and 250 in Spain. As of this writing the movie has been enjoyed in more than 35 countries worldwide. The overall number of screens the film has been shown on is around 6,000 and the number of people who have seen it is around 30 million. Of course there have been other movies that have been shown on a worldwide scale like this but Mewtwo Strikes Back is, without a doubt, the first Japanese movie to accomplish this wonderful achievement. The number of Pokémon Cards given out in various languages as part of each country's promotional campaign has surpassed 25 million. Will Revelation Lugia be able to outdo its predecessor? And will this film, Lord of the "Unknown" Tower ENTEI be able to do even better? We're all pumped up with anticipation.

Every time we make one of these we try to outdo the records set by its predecessor, and since this is the Pokémon movies we're talking about my personal expectation is that this film will be able to do so without any problem. Every time we make one of these movies we make new discoveries and find new ways to be creative and since this is the Pokémon movies we're talking about this film should be able to surpass its predecessors. Please enjoy the beautiful Unknown's wild dancing and the powerful Entei', as well as the roles that Satoshi, his mother, and Mii all play!


The next eight pages consists of screenshots from the film and a story synopsis. I assume those of you reading this already know the story of the movie so I'll skip ahead.

After that is a two-page section called "Secrets of the Crystal World" (結晶世界の秘密) which has the film's director, Kunihiko Yuyama, explaining various parts of the film.

Entei
The Pokémon movies are family films watched by both children and their parents. Therefore, we try to make each film enjoyable for the parents accompanying their children to the theater by focusing on specific themes. The theme of this year's movie is -- you guessed it! -- the bond between parent and child. This time we especially wanted to present a movie that focuses on fatherhood. Father's Day isn't celebrated as vigorously when compared to Mother's Day, and for some reason fathers tend to have a smaller presence in their families' lives. Regardless, fathers work hard night and day for their families and so we put this perseverance into Entei.

The Crystal World
The crystallized world is created by the Unknown in response to what's in Mii's heart. Since it's a reflection of what's inside Mii's heart we designed it to be this fantastic world with all these girly elements like candies and frills. One of the tools we used to bring this never-before-seen crystallized world to life was CG (computer graphics). Please enjoy images that have never been seen before in animation.

To our audience
One of the big themes of Pokémon is "communication." Appreciating one another, looking up the things you don't understand, and then accepting them. If everyone can do that then these new worlds they're introduced to will grow bigger and bigger. The theme of this movie is the bond between parents and their children...we'd be happy if you think about how you communicate with those closest to you as a parent and child.

The next two pages feature comments from the special guest voice actors and a bio for the performer of the film's ending theme. The lyrics to said ending theme are also provided.


The biographical information / comments are as follows:

	Naoto Takenaka (Entei / Sully) From Yokohama City in Kanagawa Prefecture. Joined the Seinenza Theater Company in 1980 and spent nine years there. In 1983, meanwhile, he made his television debut on TV-Asahi's TV-Engei (テレビ演芸). Currently doing everything from comedy to serious drama on the stage, film, TV, and CDs. Started his own theater company, the Takenaka Naoto Association, in 1990. On TV he was in the NHK Taiga Drama "Hideyoshi," among others. In movies he won various awards at the 21st annual Japan Academy Prize Association for best picture, best director, and best actor. "My children are fans of Pokémon so when I got offered this role that helped me decide to accept. Entei and Sully are roles that represent fathers everywhere so I played them as a father who isn't shaken up by anything and is strong, but who also has a kind side to him. I definitely want you to watch this film as a family."
	Hirohide Yakumaru (John) From Tokyo. Appeared in 1981's "Class 2-B's Teacher Mr. Senbachi" on TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System). Joined the boy band Shibu Gakitai , who released their debut single "Nai-Nai 16" on May 5th, 1982. The group disbanded in 1988 after a successful career. Started a solo career afterwards. Currently works as a celebrity who appears in dramas, variety shows, commercials, and stage plays. Is currently a regular cast member of TBS' "Hanamaru Market." Does other work as well. This is his first voice acting role in his 18-year career. "This is my first time doing voice acting work. I play a researcher who unearths these mysterious Pokémon, and even though it was my first time doing voice-over work it made me realize how deep and how fun it can be. I'd be happy if then bonds between parent and child, as well as with the rest of your family, becomes even stronger because of this movie."
	Ai Katou (Rin) From Aichi Prefecture. Born December 12th, 1982. Appears in various TV dramas and commercials. Currently working in a wide array of productions, from hosting ANB's news program "Axel,"  to acting in the TV drama "Ikebukuro West Gate Park," to serving as an MC on the radio. The Pokémon Trainer Rin is her first attempt at voice acting. "When I was a middle school student, I didn't play a lot of video games but even I ended up buying a Game Boy and playing Pokémon on it. So I was very happy to be able to work on this Pokémon movie. Even though this was my first time doing voice acting work I had fun playing Rin, a lively and cheerful girl."
	Theme Song: Kumiko Mori From Miyagi Prefecture. Made her opera debut in a 1981 production of "Suor Angelica." Her breakout performance was in a 1984 production of the Toho Musical "La Cage aux Folles." Started appearing in more musicals after that. Currently playing glamorous characters with musical talent on a variety of platforms such as TV, drama, musicals, opera, and concerts. In September and October of this year she'll be tackling her first starring role in "The Big Ladies Club" at the Tokyo Parco Theater before taking the show nationwide.
