DVD Guide Update
May 26th, 2012

Dogasu @ 10:21 JST --  Now that "The Rocket-Dan vs. The Plasma-Dan!" has stopped consuming my life, I can focus on some of the other neglected sections of the site for a bit.

This morning is all about getting the DVD Guide up to date.

First up is the July 20th release of
Pocket Monsters Best Wishes! Pikachu's Summer Bridge Story, the Pikachu short that aired on select ANA flights last summer.  These DVD releases are pretty much the only way we fans in the West will ever get to see these specials - TPCI has certainly proved that they have no interest in dubbing them, after all - so I highly recommend picking this up.  Also, judging from the screenshots shown on Amazon Japan, we might see in-character Nyasu again?  And maybe Koromori and Deathmas will have something resembling personalities now?  No cover art has been revealed yet, but I'll be sure to post it when it comes out.

Best Collection Set 3 Box

The next DVD release will be the third set of Best Collection DVDs.  The next eight discs will be coming out on July 24th and will feature eight Best Wishes! episodes and eight episodes from the original Pocket Monsters series.  I am of course more excited about the latter rather than the former, but being able to legally own some Best Wishes! episodes is cool too, I guess.  The episodes that are on this set have all been added to
the So which episodes are available on DVD in Japan, anyway? page.

While I was at it, I also went and divided the Best Collection DVDs into three pages - Pocket Monsters, Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl, and Pocket Monsters Best Wishes! + Pocket Monsters.  The one page I had throwing all these "Best Collection" DVDs onto up until now was getting a bit out of hand, so I thought splitting everything up would make more sense.  I also replaced some of the DVD images with higher quality versions.

DP Sinnoh League Victors

Finally, in the U.S., the third and final volume of Pokémon DP Sinnoh League Victors has been announced for a September 4th release.  It will contain twelve episodes, just like the other two Sinnoh League Victors sets.  I guess this means we won't be getting the first Black and White box set until October at the earliest, which is kind of ridiculous when you think about how Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2 will probably be getting ready to launch in the U.S. by then.  That's Viz for ya, always striking while the iron's still...lukewarm?  *shrugs*

Finally, the List of Episodes has been updated.

The next update will be getting the Video Games and CD Guide sections up to date.

"The Rocket-Dan vs. The Plasma-Dan!"
May 16th, 2012

Dogasu @ 23:51 JST --  It's finished.  "The Rocket-Dan vs. The Plasma-Dan!"

"The Rocket-Dan vs. The Plasma-Dan!"

Are you aware of the comic book series Bone, by Jeff Smith?  I've been a fan of it since the early 90s and think it's probably my favorite non-superhero American comic of all time.  I'm bringing it up here because 1) it's awesome and you should all read it, and 2) because I want to share with you all a letter that was printed in the back of one of the comic issues.  I can't give you guys the exact details because my copies of the comics are over on the other side of the Pacific, but I can tell you that the letter in question addressed the series' irregular release schedule.  Mr. Smith told his readers something to the effect of "In ten years, nobody's going to remember that there were these agonzingly long waits between issues.  All they'll care about is the quality of the final product."

That's kind of the way I feel about this site.  At the end of the day, I want to produce content that's well researched, not hastily thrown together in just a few short moments.  I want to write things that have been properly proofread, not essays filled with grammatical errors and confusing syntax.  I sacrifice speed for quality, and while I sometimes go overboard with that, I only do so because I don't want to have to go back years from now and basically redo everything from scratch like I'm having to do with those Kanto comparisons.

So I thank you all for your patience.  I hope it's paid off.
