"Cilan Versus Trip, Ash Versus Georgia!"
December 8th, 2011

Dogasu @ 22:52 JST --  Oh, hi there.  Here's the comparison for "Cilan Versus Trip, Ash Versus Georgia!"

"Cilan Versus Trip, Ash Versus Georgia!"

I'm going to go ahead and blame this comparison's lateness on the Japanese exam I took this past weekend.  Furthering my education's gotta come before this website, y'know?  I know I should feel worse about not updating for almost a month or for not bothering to making a "here's what's going on" post, but at least my absence this time was due to me trying to improve my Japanese.  Which, in turn, means more accurate translations on this site.  That's not so bad, right...?

The List of TV Episodes has also been updated.

There's also a new movie coming out next year!

Kyurem vs. The Sacred Swordsman

I've made a page detailing what little we know about the movie, Kyurem vs. the Sacred Swordsman.  The official website has a note saying that it'll be updated on December 16th with more information.

Grade Three
Grade Four

Finally, in manga news, it looks like Shougaku Yon-Nensei, one of the three magazines that's serializing Pocket Monsters Special, will be ceasing publication early next year.  According to MSN News, the March 2012 issues of both San-Nensei ("Grade Three") and Yon-Nensei ("Grade Four"), which will go on sale in early February, will be the final issues of both those publications.  The article explains that at their peak in the early 70s, the April 1973 issue of Grade Three sold 1,000,000 copies while that same month's issue of Grade Four sold 820,000 copies.  This year?  Grade Three only manages to sell between 40,000 and 50,000 copies a month while Grade Four sells between 30,000 and 40,000 copies.  Now Shougakukan's PR department has come out and said that the reason for the cancellations is because they don't think an all-in-one magazine like the ones they're putting out is compatible with the needs of young kids today, but I'm thinking the dropping sales are the deciding factor here.
I'm sure it doesn't help that issues of Shougaku Yon-Nensei are around 700 yen (US $9.00) per issue.

No word yet on what will happen to Pocket Monsters Special once the magazine stops publication.  When their Grade Six magazine ceased publication in early 2010, Special was moved from that magazine to its current home in Grade Four.  Will Shougakukan move it again?

I should also mention that Shougaku San-Nensei publishes Pocket Monsters BW Good Partners, a manga that I haven't gotten around to covering on this site yet but one that's been running since March.  No idea what's happening with that.

This post is getting pretty long, so I'll have to address the Herman Cain hilarity later.
