"Pokemon Ranger!  Deoxys Crisis!"
November 28th, 2007

Hey!  Looks like I've got some of that precious, precious Internet for the time being.  Better make the most of it!

Here's "Pokemon Ranger - Deoxys' Crisis!" Parts One and Two.  Yup!  You get two episode comparisons in one day because...well, because I can.  And also because I'll be behind schedule if I don't start doubling up on the edit lists.

I'm still waiting for the newest Diamond & Pearl episode to finish "getting obtained," so I'll continue with more Battle Frontier episodes in the meantime.

New Comparisons!
November 25th, 2007

My Internet (or, more accurately, the Internet I'm leeching off my neighbor) has its up days and its down days.  On its up days, it's able to download entire episodes of TV shows in a matter of hours.  On its down days, I can't connect to any website ever.

Basically, last week was a bunch of "down" days one after the other.  I would maybe get five minutes of actual Internet usage before the dreaded "Server Not Found" message would pop up in my web browser.  Frustration.

Supposedly, I'm getting actual real people Internet on Friday.  But I've been hearing that for the past thirteen weeks and still don't have anything, so it's one of those "I'll believe it when I see it" situations.  You'd think that getting Internet connected in freakin' technology land would be a very simple matter, but apparently it isn't.  Huh.

So while I still have a connection...today's updates are three new Episode Comparisons.  First up is last week's DP episode, "The Grass Managerie!"  After you finish that, head over to the Battle Frontier section and take a look at "Talking A Good Game!" and "Second Time's The Charm!

Unfortunately, that's all I have for you guys today.  I had wanted to actually do the one-comparison-a-day thing (which would have brought the number of comparisons available today up to seven), but I obviously haven't been able to do that.

After two months, I finally own "Pikachu the Movie Box 1998-2002!"

So far, I've only watched the first movie, but hopefully I can watch the others sometime next week (this week I'll be busy trying to finish watching those Jouto DVD's I bought a few weeks ago).  The packaging is super nice, and the little data books that come with the set look like they'll have lots of neat information that hasn't been translated into English yet.  As I go through the set, I'll post my impressions of it in the Features section.  Here's a placeholder for that to remind me to post my impressions of the set as I go through it.

I only picked up the first boxset, by the way.  I would have picked up the second one, but I didn't have enough cash on me, and Japan's a country where none of the stores accept debit cards (even Japanese ones).  I would imagine that the second set would be easier to find than the first, so I'm not too worried about being able to pick them up in a month or so.

I'll get the comparison for the Deoxys Battle Frontier episodes up whenever my Internet decides to work next.

"What I Did for Love!" and "Three Jynx and A Baby!"
November 18th, 2007

Sorry about the late update.  My Internet has been crap lately, so it's made it hard to upload these files.  I plan to call some people this week and yell at people for not having my Internet hooked up after twelve freakin' weeks, so hopefully that'll produce some results.

First up is "What I Did for Love!", and episode where Takeshi competes in a Pokemon Contest and gets his butt handed to him by Miss Deux-ex-machina.  I actually went to the local video store and rented the first volume of Kyojin no Hoshi so I could get some screenshots of the scene being parodied in the episode, but so far I haven't come across the scene in question.

The second comparison is for "Three Jynx and A Baby!"  Racist pokemon, rice balls, and cleavage all in one episode!?!?  Wow!

There are also some new episode titles up on the big Episode List.

I'm about two episodes behind where I want to be, so I'll do my best to catch up soon.  I also hope to get "The Grass Menagerie" up sometime this week.

"Curbing the Crimson Tide!"
November 14th, 2007

Wow.  Doing a Battle Frontier comparison feels weird.  After dealing with Satoshi, Takeshi, and Hikari for so long, it feels weird going back to Haruka and Masato being regulars in the show.

Anyways, the comparison for "Curbing the Crimson Tide!" is up.  If you look at the English name for Ariana Town in that comparison, you'll see that it shares a name with a certain Gym Leader who was featured in yesterday's comparison.  No, I didn't plan that at all.  It just happened.

Tomorrow I plan to have "What I Did For Love!" up.

"A Secret Sphere Of Influence!"
November 13th, 2007

Today's been pretty productive.  Not only did I finish reading the last Harry Potter book, but I also finished the comparison for "A Secret Sphere Of Influence!

Tomorrow I'll start catching up on those undone Battle Frontier comparisons.  Assuming that this cold I have doesn't get any worse, that is.

Also, don't forget to pick up the second Indigo DVD box set this week!

"An Elite Meet And Greet!"
November 12th, 2007

I'm sacrificing precious Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition playtime for this site.  Arg.

Anyways...here's "An Elite Meet And Greet!" for you guys.  Nothing too notable about that one other than a weird shifting around of scenes on PUSA's part.  Wonder why they've been so edit-happy lately?

I want to try to get back on a daily schedule in regards to the Episode Comparisons.  So tomorrow will either be "A Secret Sphere of Influence" or, if the download isn't finished by then, "Curbing the Crimson Tide."  Either way, I want to be finished with Battle Frontier by the end of the year, so I'm going to have to start hustling if I want that to happen.

"Buizel Your Way Out Of This!"
November 11th, 2007

Sorry for the delay on this.  I'm still having Internet connectivity issues, so that really slows things down.  I also had a birthday and have been hopelessly addicted to Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition.

Today's update is the comparison for "Buizel Your Way Out Of This!"  I've also added a new dub title to the Episode Lists

So you may remember how I've been trying, unsuccessfully, to find those movie DVD box sets.  You'd think that since I live in Japan, that'd be a fairly straightforward affair.  The thing is, I haven't been able to find the damn things anywhere, meaning that either a) they really are "limited edition" sets, b) they've been selling out like crazy, or c) nobody's bothering to carry the damn things.

Well yesterday, I finally found one of the sets.  The second set (Movies AG 01 - AG 04) was at a big electronics store called Yodobashi Camera, ready to be bought.  But...I didn't buy it.  Why?  Well, the store also had some really, really rare Jouto DVD's, so I bought those instead.  They weren't cheap ($35 per DVD), but they're even harder to find than the movie boxsets, so I bought them while I had the chance.  I actually haven't seen most of early Jouto, so these episodes are pretty much all-new to me.  I can't wait to watch them all.

Speaking of DVD's...don't forget that the second Indigo box set comes out this Tuesday.  The set contains English episodes 027-052.  You can check out more details on my page for the DVD here.  The actual DVD boxart is supposed to be different from what sites like Amazon.com are showing, so be aware of that when you go to the stores this week.

"Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea"
November 1st, 2007

The usual place I go to to "obtain" the newest dub episodes didn't post one this week for some reason, so the comparison for "Buizel You Way Out Of This!" will have to wait until I can track it down.

In the meantime, take a look at the comparison for "Pok
émon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea!"

I've gotten about a dozen e-mails over the past few months asking when I'd get around to doing this comparison, so I know a lot of you have been anticipating this update.  I'm sorry I didn't post it up sooner, but various real world distractions and the desire to be up-to-date with the Diamond & Pearl comparisons kind of pushed the movie comparison to the back burner.  Again...sorry about that.

I've also added some newly revealed Japanese episode titles to the Episode List.  The Beadull episode will be the last episode of PUSA's tenth season, so that's pretty important.

If the Buizel episode still isn't posted by the time I'm ready to do my next update, then I'll just go ahead and start back into the Battle Frontier comparisons.
