Movie AG 04 Stuff
April 19th, 2006

So the first chapter of the manga adaptation of the Manaphy movie has been released in Japan.  Now I don't actually have the manga in front of me since I can't seem to find a way to get CoroCoro sent to my house, so I decided to translate the few pages that have been uploaded to the Internet to help get a feel of how the movie will go.  Check it out!

I've also updated the Episode List with titles every other website has had up for over a week now.

The official AG 04 Movie website had a major update the other day, so I'll be sure to post information from that as soon as I can.

Now I'm up to date again!  But for how long...
April 18th, 2006

Um...I dunno.  I'll be out of town this weekend, so I won't be able to get those comparisons done until next Monday or Tuesday at the earliest.  But at least for now I'm not behind.

Here's "A Real Cleffa Hanger" for you guys.  Now that I'm up to date with those, I hope to be able to do some non-comparison updates for this site.

The gang's all here

April 18th, 2006

I had a busy week last week, which is why there hasn't been any updates lately.

Anyway, I finished "The Right Place and the Right Mime" for ya.  I also added a picture to "The Scheme Team" comparison and made a few tweaks here and there.  It turns out that the skirt edit I thought took place didn't actually happen, so I deleted it to make it look like I never goofed up.  I'm sneaky like that.

I'll try to get the second episode up sometime tomorrow.

That's all for Houen
April 10th, 2006

So I finally finished the comparisons for "Choose It or Loose It!" (that's not my typo, by the way) and "At the End of the Fray."  I would have had them up sooner, but for some reason I just couldn't get the summary for "Choose It or Loose It!" to flow right.  I must have revised that thing about a dozen times, but I'm still not entirely happy with the way it turned out.  Oh well.

A few posters on the various message boards I visit seem to be under the impression that Season 9, the one with the new voice actors, begins with the next episode ("The Right Place and the Right Mime").  That's not the case at all.  We still have thirteen episodes left with the old cast before the new one takes over, but no matter how many times I tell people this, there's still a few people who just don't seem to get it.

I think some people are thinking that a new saga = a new season, but that's not the case at all (nor has it ever been).  Kids' WB! doesn't buy seasons storyline by storyline; they buy them in 52 episode chunks.  And, as we've seen in the past, these "chunks" often include the last part of one saga and the first part of another saga.  After the first two seasons, when the show was floating around on syndication before finding a home on Kids' WB!, the show got a regular 52 episode a year order:
  • Season Three (Fall 2000 - Summer 2001) contains the last eleven episodes of the Orange Island saga (from "The Pokemon Water War" to "The Rivalry Revival") and all 41 episodes of Pokémon Johto Journeys, for a total of 52 episodes.
  • Season Four (Fall 2001 - Summer 2002) contains all 52 episodes of Pokémon Johto League Champions (from "A Goldenrod Opportunity" to "Machoke, Machoke Man"), for a total of 52 episodes.
  • Season Five (Fall 2002 - Summer 2003) contains the first 52 episodes of Pokémon Master Quest (from "Around the Whirlpool" to "You're a Star, Larvitar!"), for a total of 52 episodes.
  • Season Six (Fall 2003 - Summer 2004) contains the last twelve episodes of Pokémon Master Quest (from "Address Unown" to "Hoenn Alone") and all 40 episodes of Pokémon Advanced (from "Get The Show on the Road" to "Watt's With Wattson"), for a total of 52 episodes.
  • Season Seven (Fall 2004 - Summer 2005) contains all 52 episodes of Pokémon Advanced Challenge (from "What You Seed is What You Get" to "Judgment Day"), for a total of 52 episodes.
  • Season Eight (Fall 2005 - Summer 2006) contains the final 38 episodes of the Houen League (from "Clamperl of Wisdom" to "At the End of the Fray") and the first fourteen episodes of the Battle Frontier (from "The Scheme Team" to "The Fighting Dojo!  Satoshi vs. Haruka!"), for a total of 52 episodes.
So as you can see, there's nothing to back the idea that a new saga = a new season.  We still have thirteen more 4Kids-dubbed episodes, so fans expecting to hear the debut of the new cast in this weekend's episodes will be disappointed.

In other news, there's a poll on Pokemon.com where fans can pick their favorite pokemon.  The character with the most votes will get a special tenth anniversary DVD made containing a collection of episodes that showcase the winning pokemon.  I'd rather Viz do something else for the tenth anniversary of the franchise because "Best Of" DVD's always suck, but what are ya gonna do?

Now if they would only get around to releasing some Kanto DVD box sets...

Welcome to the Battle Frontier
April 8th, 2006

Here's this morning's episode, "The Scheme Team."

I'll try to have the last two episodes of the Houen League up sometime tonight.

Moving along
April 7th, 2006

Here's "A Judgment Brawl."  Only two more episodes left in the Houen League before I have all of the Houen region episodes compared!

It's about time
April 5th, 2006

I finally got a new comparison done.  Here's "Shocks and Bonds."

I've also created a page for the Battle Frontier comparisons in preparation for Saturday's episode.

A little late...
April 3rd, 2006

I've restored the proper "Mean with Envy" comparison and have archived the joke comparison on the April Fools Day page.  I hope you all enjoyed it!

EDIT:  Here's a random update:  I've added the covers to the last two Advanced Challenge DVD's in the DVD section.

New comparisons
April 1st, 2006

I had to redo the comparison for "Mean with Envy" to cover the extra editing 4Kids did to it for Kids' WB!.  I mean...DAMN.

EDIT:  APRIL FOOLS!!!!!
