Official Japanese website for The Thieves and the Thousand Pokemon
The Thieves and the Thousand Pokemon is a game that's played using the Nintendo 3DS' "Street Pass" (すれちがい通信) functionality. You start the game by choosing either Harimaron, Fokko, or Keromatsu as your leader pokemon. The leader affects what pokemon is added to the army of whoever you Street Pass with - if you choose Keromatsu, for example, then everyone who Street Passes with you will get a Keromatsu added to their game. Players who cannot take advantage of the Street Pass function also have the option of purchasing additional pokemon using the Nintendo 3DS Game Coins. No matter how you build up your army, you'll use your pokemon to battle the gang of thieves and aim for victory!
The more pokemon you have in your party the stronger your army will be and the better your chances of victory!
Type matching also plays a role in battling. Using the 3DS' bottom screen, players are able to choose which pokemon will battle the opponent in front of them. Is the Grass-Type Harimaron, the Water-Type Keromatsu, or the Fire-Type Fokko the best pokemon for the job? There are sixteen stages altogether.
The setting of The Thieves and the Thousand Pokemon is the same "Diamond Ore Kingdom" (ダイヤモンド鉱国) that was used in the movie The Cocoon of Destruction and Diancie! The game begins with the thieves Marilyn and Riot, the same Marilyn and Riot from the movie, stealing the two treasures of the Diamond Ore Kingdom. These treasures are known as the Sunset Diamond (ゆうひのダイヤ) and the Starry Sky Diamond (ほしぞらのダイヤ). Your adventure starts when Dii, a Meleecie from the Diamond Ore Kingdom, asks you to retrieve these two treasures from the thieves.
On top of that, the Meleecie from the Diamond Ore Kingdom and the father-daughter team of Argus and Millis Steel will appear in the game as well!
There is also a feature in the game called the "Movie News Antenna" (えいがニュースアンテナ) that shows updates about the upcoming movie whenever the game starts up.
Download The Thieves and the Thousand Pokemon onto your Nintendo 3DS and then bring it with you to the movie theater! If you do, you'll gain access to a special bonus "Argus and Millis Stage!" If you complete this stage then you'll be given a serial code that, when entered into your copy of Pocket Monsters X & Y, will give you a Master Ball! The special stage could be downloaded between July 19th and September 30th, 2014. You can download the stage at any point during this time but you cannot actually play it unless you've gotten past Stage 6 in The Thieves and the Thousand Pokemon. |
