In Pocket Monsters The Movie "Koko," Ms. Moka Kamishiraishi has been cast as the role of Koko, a boy who was raised by a Mythical Pokémon! We here at CoroCoro also have a special interview for you!

Moka Kamishiraishi

Pocket Monsters The Movie "Koko," which will be out in theaters Winter 2020, will have Ms. Moka Kamishiraishi as one of its guest voice actors! She'll play the one who was raised by the Mythical Pokémon Zarude and the boy who's the key to this story, Koko.

And that's not all! To celebrate, CoroCoro Online conducted a special interview with Ms. Moka Kamishiraishi. Let's listen to her love for Pokémon spilling out of her answers!

"Koko," a boy who was raised by Pokémon, will be played by Ms. Moka Kamishiraishi!

In this year's movie Ms. Kamishiraishi plays Koko, the ten-year-old boy who was brought up by Pokémon and who therefore blurs the line between human and Pokémon!

This film depicts the relationship between the Mythical Pokémon Zarude and Koko, a Pokémon and human father/son duo whose love for each other transcends species. Pay attention to Ms. Kamishiraishi's performance in this movie!

Here's the statement released by Ms. Moka Kamishiraishi:

"The first movie I ever saw was Pocket Monsters Advanced Generation The Movie "Pokémon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea, Manaphy" (2006). I was a first grader in elementary school and went to go see it in the theater with my family. I played the Nintendo DS games as well and so I feel like I've always been in contact with the culture of Pokémon this whole time.

I lived in Mexico for a while and Pokémon was really popular with the other kids at school there and so I could experience, first-hand, Japanese culture being exported overseas, and the whole time I was there I could see how much everyone loved Pokémon no matter what country it was. When I was a kid I used to look at the Pokémon and think "they're soooo cute~" but now that I'm an adult I've started to be able to understand the deeper meaning behind it all.

In this movie I play a boy who was raised by Pokémon and the theme of this film, I feel, are the various relationships we can have with each other, be they a father / son relationship where the two aren't actually related to each other by blood; the bonds between humans and Pokémon; and so on. I'm also looking forward to seeing how Mr. Kankuro, who plays Zarude, breathes life into the Mythical Pokémon."

CoroCoro Online's Exclusive Interview with Ms. Moka Kamishiraishi!

Moka Kamishiraishi

-- In the issue of CoroCoro that's coming out soon there will be a manga that tells an original story about Koko before he met Satoshi. Is there any "stories from when Koko was a little kid" that you'd want to read?

Ms. Kamishiraishi: I want to know what kind of food he likes! In the trailer we see him eating berries with a group of Pokémon but I want to know exactly what kinds of berries he likes, how he spends his days, etc.

-- Please leave the CoroCoro Comics readers with a message.

Ms. Kamishiraishi:  When I was in elementary school I used to read Grandpa Danger!

Reading CoroCoro again after all these years feels like reuniting with old friends. As I flip through the pages I think about how a feeling it is to have a head filled with dreams as you're reading it. In order for me to live up to the expectations of all you who have deepened your love for Pokémon through CoroCoro I want to reignite my own love for the series and put lots and lots of love into my performance as Koko.

-- Thank you very much!

Pocket Monsters The Movie "Koko" will be the first Pokémon movie to be released in the winter!

Please take precautions to protect yourself from infection and look forward to going to the theaters!
