|There are hundreds and hundreds
characters, and remembering their names can be difficult. It's a
task made even more difficult when the majority of these characters get
names changed for the English versions of the games. The lists
linked to on this page should help you sort these out.
The pokemon are divided by the "generation" to which they belong. The first wave of pokemon - that is, the original 151 pokemon - is referred to as Generation One. The second wave of pokemon released is referred to as Generation Two, the third wave is referred to as Generation Three, and so on.
Each of the pages linked to below contains a table that shows the pokemon's Zukan number, its English name, how the character's name appears in the Japanese alphabet, and the romanized version of that character's name. You may notice that many of the romanizations I've settled on differ from the ones on official merchandise and on other fan sites. I'm not happy with just copying and pasting work other people have done, so I've gone over each and every pokemon name myself and have carefully chose romanizations I feel to be both the most accurate and best captures the intended meaning.
