Sun & Moon manga

I've taken pretty much everything I could from this short preview and created a Characters and Plot Synopsis page.

The new Pocket Monsters Sun & Moon manga will begin in the October 2016 issue of CoroCoro Comics, which goes on-sale September 15th, 2016.

New manga based on Pocket Monsters Sun & Moon coming next month!
August 11th, 2016

Dogasu @ 10:15 JST -- The official Pokemon Twitter account posted an image from a new manga based on the upcoming Pocket Monsters Sun & Moon games and so I've made a section here on the site dedicated to the upcoming series!

Sun & Moon manga

The new manga, whose title has yet to be revealed, is going to be written by Yabuno Tenya, a man who's probably most famous for working on the Inazuma Eleven manga, and will debut in the issue of CoroCoro Comics that goes on sale September 15th.

I'll actually be out of the country when the first chapter comes out but I'll be sure to cover it as soon after its debut as I can!

No new box office earnings are being reported for Pokemon and to be honest I wouldn't expect anything until after the movie officially leaves theaters in (what I'm assuming will be) the end of August.

The reason the Pokemon shorts "took a break" this year
August 7th, 2016

Dogasu @ 10:20 JST -- As most of you already know by now, this year's movie, Pokémon the movie XY&Z "Volcanion and the Tricky Magearna," did not come packaged with a Pikachu short for the first since 2011's Pocket Monsters Best Wishes! The Movie "Victini and the Black Hero, Zekrom / Victini and the White Hero, Reshiram." So what gives?

The reason the Pokemon shorts "took a break" this year

Luckily we don't have to guess! Okamoto Junya, one of the executive producers for this year's film, sat down with the Japanese entertainment website Cinema Today and talked about the reason they decided to just have one film this year instead of the usual two. The interview's a bit old (it's from the end of June) but I thought it was interesting so I went and translated the whole thing and put it on a page I call The reason the Pokemon shorts "took a break" this year.

What do you think of Mr. Okamoto's explanation? Does it matter to you if the shorts come back at all? Or would you rather each movie get the extra 20 minute runtime that the lack of a shorts give them?

"Volcanion and the Tricky Magearna" Box Office Figures - Week Three
August 4th, 2016

Dogasu @ 07:48 JST -- The third week's box office figures are in for Pokémon the movie XY&Z "Volcanion and the Tricky Magearna"' and the film has just passed the billion yen mark!

The film has made 1,062,936,500 yen (US $10,525,898.76) since its debut last month, pushing it past the all-important milestone. The movie is unfortunately not performing as well as its predecessor, which had already made 1.3 billion yen by this point in its run, but it's still a decent showing nonetheless. The film has now slid down to fifth place with the debut of the new Godzilla movie (which I actually got a chance to see on Sunday; I agree with a lot of what Kotaku has to say about it) and the Japanese release of The Legend of Tarzan.
