Happy Anniversary!!!
Thursday, January 31st, 2002

Phew, I was afraid I wouldn't make it on time!  Today is my site's two-year anniversary, and I wrote a little essay on it.  Click on the picture of Sonano up there to read it.  Now you might be asking--who's this Sonano?  Other than being the pre-evolved form of Sonansu and the cutest pokemon ever, it's one of the Pokemon Advance pokemon who will be making its debut in the mini-movie that goes along with the fifth movie!  A bit of information was released yesterday regarding the fifth movie and I compiled that into a page in the Movies section.  So go check that out.  The titles of both the main feature and the mini-movie are revealed, as well as a tiny bit of plot information.  Movie four had that sort of Princess Mononoke feel, and it looks as though Movie five might have a Nadia feel to it.  But it's way too early to tell as the movie still has another six months to go before it's released.  Anyway, I'll get those missing episode comparisons up soon, so don't worry!

Keeping Things Up-to-Date
January 24th, 2002

Hey all.  I don't have much for you this time, but I gotta keep this thing up to date.  First of all, I made a small correction in the Pokemon HaraHara Relay Page, thanks to Lan.  I've also updated the Episode Guide with new Japanese and American dub titles.  I've updated the Jouto League Screenshots so that now they're up-to-date, and I've updated the Manga Releases Page.  And finally, I've added some links to the Links page, most notably the Anime Intro Archive's site and the very funny "So You Want to Learn Japanese?" Essay that EVERY Japanese language student should read.

I've been working on a number of things on this site, but I'm afraid that schoolwork is getting in the way of doing more timely updates.  But I am working on it every chance I get, whether it's contacting people to get more Japanese episodes for the comparisons or dealing with the computer people to fix my scanner.  So don't worry, I haven't forgotten about this site ^_^

Also, the episode comparisons of the episodes I had to skip (5, 8 and 9, I believe) will have to wait a little bit, at least until I can get home (where the VCR and tapes are) and can sit down and compare them.  Anyway, I hope to get another update done before Thursday, so look forward to that!

The Most Exciting Update Ever
January 18th, 2002

I've fixed the rominization mistakes in the Lyrics Section.  It was a lot of work, but I wanted it to be correct.  There may still be a stray "wo" or "jya" somewhere, and if there is then please tell me.  That's all I got for ya today.

New Rant
January 12th, 2002

Here I go, doing my last update before I return to college for my second semester!  I have no idea how my workload will be, so until then I will be uncertain as to how often I'll be able to update this site.  But don't worry too much--I've prepared some updates that I haven't uploaded yet, so if the gaps between updates become too large I'll be able to just upload those and be done with it.

Anyway, there's a new rant up, "Why Anime Should Not be Translated in America."  I've also got some new dubbed episode titles up.  Todd (known as Snap in Europe and Australia, and I think Canada as well) will start making his Jouto appearance soon, so fans will have that to look forward to.  The official website even has summaries of the new episodes, for those of you who can't wait.

New Lyrics
January 11th, 2002

Hey everyone.  I've got the lyrics for two new songs up--Aratanaru Chikai (Acoustic Version) (the opening theme to the Raikou special), and Maekmuki ROKETTO-Dan (the TV serie's 11th ending theme).  I also fixed the romanization errors on the main lyrics page, and I'll delve into the rest of the lyrics pages at another time.  I know the pages I have up are really boring because they don't have a picture to accompany it, but I'll get that fixed soon, maybe as soon as later today!

Also, Kids' WB!'s schedule for the next week (January 21st-26th) has been posted, and there's some bad news.  You remember how happy I was that they were showing the episodes in order?  Well, they're skipping Episode 18.  That means that we won't see "Beauty and the Beach" rerunned.  That's kind of frustrating, considering how it's perfectly suitable to air now that 4Kids has chopped it up.  Does Kids' WB! think Misty isn't wearing enough clothes?  Or that there's too much Japanese writing in the episode (I really hope not...)?

In addition, Episode 19, "Tentacool & Tentacruel," will also be skipped.  It seems that the images of Tentacruel knocking over a bunch of skyscrapers still makes Kids' WB! uncomfortable in this post-September 11th world.  The Episode 18 deletion still puzzles me, but the rest of the week looks good.  I've heard that there have even been commercials naming the whole thing as "The Road to Indigo," so I guess once we get to the Orange League we'll start having theme weeks again.  Speaking of September 11th changes and the Orange League, there's a rumor going around that the second Orange League episode, "A Scare in the Air," will have its title changed to "Spirits in the Sky" because of September 11th.  I can't confirm that, but I'm just saying not to be surprised if it happens.

*Sigh* And about that last update...I said no hastily-written guestbook messages.  What do I look like, a Donky?  ;-)

New Anime Guide up, Episode Comparisons
January 7th, 2002

Hey everyone.  I've got two more episode comparisons up, this time for Episodes 25 and 26.  I know I've done those before, but now they're complete and in the newer format.  Redoing previous episode comparisons is just as time-consuming as doing them from scratch, so don't think I can just breeze through the ones I've already done.

Also, doing the episode comparison for Episode 26 reminded me of one of my favorite anime, Revolutionary Girl Utena--so I did a write-up about that show for the Other Anime section.  That's right!  It's the first time that section's been updated since June 2001 (it's been that long!?)!  One reason I hadn't been a good webmaster and kept that section updated is because I was going to do Yu-Gi-Oh.  I even had a vote on this site and everything for the next series to be showcased in that section.

Well, as it turned out, I went to watch the series for the site and discovered that it's not all that great.  In fact, I think it stinks.  Now that's just my opinion (don't need any hate mail or hastily-written guestbook signatures) but the truth is is that I couldn't bring myself to watch the proper amount of episodes and do the research to do a good write-up.  So I did a series I knew (I've seen every bit of Utena that's been commercially released) and liked.  And the result--I churned that thing out in about a day.  I guess it's my fault for putting a series on the poll that I hadn't seen, but that's all over with now.  So I hope you enjoy the Utena write-up and I hope I make a few more Utena fans out there!

Anyway, in the next day or so I'll have some new lyrics up.  Yeah, that section hasn't been updated in a while either...

Corrections...
January 4th, 2002

I have a lot of corrections posted all over the place--first of all, I've finished my revisions with the Episode Guides, and even have a few more episode titles for you all.  I've also went in and fixed some mistakes in the Movies section and Episode Comparisons (mainly changing some pokemon names to the newly-romanized ones I did two updates ago.

Also, I have some more auctions up on e-bay!  The money from these auctions aren't really going toward anything in particular like the last ones did, but it's just taking some stuff off my hands.  Please buy!

And finally, I have some news--it seems that Kids' WB! will, starting January 14th, start airing the episodes of Pokemon IN ORDER!!!  That's right!  For the first time in years, Kids' WB! will be airing the episodes in order, starting with Episode 1.  Look below:

Monday, January 14th, 2002:  "Pokemon I Choose You!" and "Pokemon Emergency!"
Tuesday, January 15th, 2002:  "Ash Catches a Pokemon!" and "Challenge of the Samurai"
Wednesday, January 16th, 2002:  "Showdown in Pewter City"
Thursday, January 17th, 2002:  "Clefairy and the Moon Stone" and "The Water Flowers of Cerulean City"
Friday, January 18th, 2002:  "The Path to the Pokemon League" and "The School of Hard Knocks"

Wow!  It took Kids' WB! long enough to get the message, but I'm just glad it's happening.  I hope it continues into the next week, but right now I'm unsure.  I got those listings from Toonzone, by the way.  The site also reveals that we'll have reruns for two more weekends, and then will get a new episode on the 19th.  In any case, I'll be able to get around to doing those three episode comparisons I couldn't do because I didn't have the dub, so that's something to look forward to.

Happy New Year!  Have a New Comparison!
January 1st, 2002

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope everyone had a great holiday season and got everything they wanted.  I got some neat goodies--some Utena DVD's (the movie's weird!!), a Game Boy Advance (yay!), Dragon Warrior 7 (an OK game, but it starts out way too slowly--I was two and a half hours into the game before my first battle), and other stuff (mostly for my dorm).

I also got the Mewtwo Returns DVD (OK, that's a present I bought myself), so I went ahead and did an Episode Comparison for it.  The dub actually turned out to be pretty good!  Anyway, I've also gone into the Episode Guide and fixed the many errors throughout.  There were some romaji errors (I mistook a tsu for an u and vice versa several times) and translation mistakes, but they should be fixed now.  I didn't have time to get to the Uzumaki Cup and Jouto League 2 episodes because I wanted this update up on the first, so they'll have to wait.  Enjoy!
