Pocket Monsters 2 (ポケットモンスター２) is a game scheduled to come out in summer 1997. It will apparently be broken up into two versions, Gold (金) and Silver (銀) and will be sold in limited quantities the way Pocket Monsters Blue was.

The games will feature 100 new pockemon for a total of 250 monsters. Among the new pockemon:

Hou'ou (ホウオウ) This bird pockemon is set to play a role in the upcoming Pocket Monsters TV series.
Yadoran (ヤドキング) It seems to be the evolved form of Yadoran. Is that a Shellder on its head? Is it the king of the Yadon? What kind of powerful Psychic-Type attacks can it use?
Donphan (ドンファン) This pockemon seems to be a mix of an elephant and an armadillo. What kind of powerful attacks can it use?
Denryuu (デンリュウ) It seems to be able to use Electric-Type attacks like Pikachu and Raichu. CoroCoro Comics suggests it's either the evolved form of Raichu or a completely different species from somewhere in outer space.

There will also be new legendary pockemon including a rare one similar to Myuu that cannot be obtained through normal play. Pockemon from Red, Green, and Blue can be transferred over to the new games, meaning all the hard work you put into building your teams won't go to waste.

The identity of the new player character has yet to be revealed, but it seems likely that it will be a brand new person. It is currently unknown what role, if any, Orchid-Hakase will play in the new games. The world map is said to be several times bigger than that of the previous games and includes a city that looks a lot like Kyoto. There will now be over 200 techniques for the pockemon to use in battle, meaning there will be at least 40 new attacks.
