Celebrating 30 Years of Pokémon, The Pokémon Short Movie Festival
~ Pocket Monsters The Movie Short Movie Masterpiece Selection ~
ポケモン30周年記念 ポケモン短編まつり ~劇場版ポケットモンスター短編傑作選

Overview

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pocket Monsters the Jimbocho Theater in Jimbocho, Tokyo is hosting special showings of three of the popular short films from the "Pocket Monsters The Movie" series. All three films are presented on film, just as they were when they first debuted in theaters.

The Jimbocho Theater had previously screened Pocket Monsters The Movie "Mewtwo Strikes Back!" as part of "I Wanna See it on the Big Screen Again! Movies from Summer Vacations Past" back in 2021..

The films

The following three films are being screened together as a single 90 minute program.

Pikachu's Summer Vacation "Pikachu's Summer Vacation"
(1998, 22 minutes)

Originally shown alongside Pocket Monsters The Movie "Mewtwo Strikes Back!"

Welcome to Pokémon Square, a place where Pokémon come to play, and Pikachu and its friends have come here to spend their summer vacation. Just as everyone is finally able to get Togepy to sleep, four Pokémon walk by and wake it up by laughing loudly! The four Pokémon - Raichu, Karakara, Bulu, and Maril - begin to fight with Pikachu and the others when they start yelling at them!

A race between Zenigame and Maril, Pikachu and Raichu running side by side...during all this commotion, Lizardon's head gets stuck in a pipe! What will everyone do!? This music fantasy shows off the friendship between Pikachu and its friends!
The Glittering Starlit Camp "The Glittering Starlit Camp"
(2002, 24 minutes)

Originally shown alongside Pocket Monsters The Movie
"Latias and Latios, The Guardian Deities of the Water Capital."

The world becomes a bigger place when you look at it from the eyes of Pokémon! In this short movie filled with fun music and exciting narration the super popular Pichu Brothers are back! While riding a locomotive on their way back from an important errand they carelessly end up falling into a nearby forest! Will they be able to make it back home safe and sound?

"Pikachu and Its Eevee Friends" "Pikachu and Its Eevee Friends"
(2013, 24 minutes)

Originally shown alongside Pocket Monsters The Movie
Best Wishes! "The Extreme Speed Genesect and the Awakening of Mewtwo."

One summer night, Pikachu, Kibago, Yanapp, and Mijumaru meet a Nymphia in a flower garden and are invited to come with it the "Eevee House" deep in the forest.  When they arrive, they find out that Eevee and its friends - the doting Thunders, the shy Booster, Showers, Eifee, Blacky, Leafia, and Glacia - all live there together.  Additionally, it seems that Nyarth and Sonansu work there as good looking housekeepers!?

An exciting sleepover is about to begin!

All three short films are preceded by the video game commercials that would have aired during their original screenings.

  • The Glittering Starlit Camp:  Pocket Monsters Ruby & Sapphire. This commercial includes images of the pre-release version of Zigzaguma.
