In the Master Tower in Shala City, Corni
approaches Concombre, her grandfather, and demands to know why he gave
a young boy named X a Mega Ring without making him go through a
"successor ceremony" first. He responds by telling her about how
he helped save the young Trainer from a duo of reporters who were
harassing him after he had just won the Junior Tournament. Once the two are driven away, he
continues, he hands over the Mega Ring as a reminder of the bond X
shares with his pokemon. Corni argues that the story doesn't
explain anything. Suddenly, Concombre is attacked by an unknown
assailant! Corni and her Mega Lucario run up the tower to find
their attacker and eventually come across an Ohrot! But where is
its Trainer? Corni leaves the battle up to Mega Lucario while she
returns downstairs to look. There, she sees a woman named Esprit
appear before Concombre and demand he tell her everything he knows
about Mega Evolution. When Esprit finds out that the only people
who know about this phenomenon are his family and the people he's
entrusted a Mega Ring to, she charges forward with her Bokurei, ready
to attack!
Notes Most of Concombre's
flashback is a reprint of the version X told in the chapter printed in
the April
2014
issue of CoroCoro Ichiban!
The big difference here is that Corni's grandfather is no longer
covered in shadow.

As the battle between Mega Lucario and
Ohrot continues, Corni realizes that her opponent is at a much higher
level than she thought. She then realizes that one of Ohrot's
roots is running down the side of the tower and into the ground
below. Could this be the source of Ohrot's power!? Below,
Corni's grandfather tells Esprit that, as a member of the Flare-Dan,
she isn't elligible to learn the secrets of Mega Evolution. He
then uses his Heracross, who can evolve into Mega Heracross, to take
out Esprit's Bokurei. Corni is called to the scene to help him
chase Esprit away but a thick wall of tree roots springs up between
Esprit and her pursuers, preventing them from going any further!
Esprit explains that the roots have surrounded the Master Tower and are
making it impossible for them to escape, leaving Corni and Concombre
with no choice but to activate the tower's self-destruct system and
leave it behind. As Esprit makes her retreat, she informs her
opponents that she's not affiliated with the Flare-Dan. Once the
Master Tower's reduced to rubble and Esprit is out of sight, Concombre
looks back, hopeful that the existence of "that pokemon" went unnoticed.
Notes The silhouette of "that pokemon" makes it obvious that Concombre is talking about Diancie.

Pansy is putting the finishing touches on
her report on the Asame Town incident when she receives a call from
Viola asking her to help X and his friends stand against a group called
the Flare-Dan. Later, Pansy goes to Prism Tower to meet with
Platane-Hakase to get some quotes for her article. X and the
others, who had come along with the professor, wait outside. When
Pansy gets off the elevator she finds that her editor has beaten her to
the scoop! He announces that he's already done with the interview
and tells Platane-Hakase that he's free to go. Once he's gone the
editor takes Pansy's report from her hands and then sets it on
fire! He tells her that he can't allow the truth to get out there
and sends out his Goronda to silence the young reporter. X senses
trouble and rushes to the top of the tower to help Pansy take on the
ferocious Fighting-Type. As Black and his three pokemon fight, Y
and the others escort Pansy out of the building. Once outside,
Pansy tells the others that there's now no doubt in her mind that the
Flare-Dan was behind the attack in Asame Town.

X finds himself in a pinch when he learns
that the editor's Goronda can see through all of Mega Garura's
attacks! He sends out Harimaron and Hitokage to help out but they
are soon thrown into confusion by Kofurai's Rage Powder. Despite
this, however, the two are eventually able to defeat the Bug-Type
pokemon. Soon after X realizes that Goronda is using
the leaf in its mouth to read its opponent's movements and so he has
his
Hitokage destroy it with the flame on its tail. This enables Mega
Garura to finally move in close and knock Goronda out and onto the
streets below. Everyone reunites downstairs where Pansy hands
over an article she wrote to our heroes before leaving to rejoin Viola
in Hakudan City.
Back in Prism Tower, the Gym Leader's younger sister Eureka walks
in on the aftermath of X's battle and notices that one of their pokemon
is missing. The pokemon, Rakurai, is later seen following our
heroes out of the city. Meanwhile, over in Shouyou City, the Gym
Leaders Zakuro and Citron are talking outside when they look down and
see the famous Saihorn Racer Saki...walking off with the
Flare-Dan!? What is Y's mother doing?

Tierno shows off his dance moves at a
skate park while X sits in his tent studying his Pokemon Zukan. Tierno
wants to practice by himself and so he and his Heigani climb a nearby
hill. The two of them are going down a particularly steep rail when
Tierno is suddenly hit in the face with a notebook! The notebook, "The
Occupy the Monster Ball Factory Plan," details an operation by the
Flare-Dan to take over the factory and stop the flow of Monster Balls
to the public! The notebook's owner, a Flare-Dan grunt with a Flygon,
explains that her organization's goal is to restore beauty to the world
by "stealing" power from some and then "giving" it to people like them
who deserve it. X arrives on the scene to help but Flygon uses Earth
Power to disorient its opponents while remaining out of reach above. X
recalls reading about how strong Heigani's pincers are and so he has
his pokemon distract the Flare-Dan while Tierno's pokemon clamps down
on Flygon's wings. The Dragon-Type pokemon falls to the ground,
knocking both it and its Trainer out cold. Later, our heroes head back
to the others to resume their journey.

Y is training for Sky Battles while her
new Keromatsu watches. Trova, meanwhile, sends a message to
Platane-Hakase telling him about what they've been up to and lets him
know that they haven't forgotten about the Fokko and the Trimmien from
whom they've become separated. Y goes to change out of her sky
suit when a Rakurai appears and steals her shirt! Elsewhere, Saki is
brought back to a holding area where she and the rest of the residents
of Asame Town are being kept. It seems like the Flare-Dan has
taken everyone hostage to prevent news about Xerneas' and Yveltal's
attack from getting out! Later, X and the others manage to retrieve Y's
shirt and return it to its owner. They then discover that Rakurai, who
abruptly evolves into Livolt during all this, only wanted to use Y's
ability to fly in order to help it search for a Mega Stone! Citron, who
happened to be on the road at the time and who recognized Y from a
magazine article about her mother, approaches the group and offers to
use one of his inventions to help search the area. Above, a member of
the Flare-Dan and his Chigoras watches.

Citron's invention reveals the presence of
the hiding Flare-Dan agent! It also locates the Mega Stone in a tree
above and so the Flare-Dan agent has his Chigoras knock it over so he
can grab it before the others get a chance. X and Trova chase after the
thief while Y and the others help free Citron from under the fallen
tree. The chase eventually takes our heroes into the hedge maze behind
Parfum Palace. X and Trova soon discover that Chigoras had only lured
them there so it could also steal Garura's Mega Stone! Meanwhile,
Citron tells Y about seeing her mother in Shouyou City with the
Flare-Dan. Inside the palace, Crocea, the man responsible for managing
the Pokemon Storage System in the Kalos Region, hears what's going on
in the hedge maze and decides to join in on the fun. Back outside, the
Flare-Dan agent decides that there's no harm in telling his pursuers
about how Mega Stones only work on certain pokemon. Now that they've
learned something new about Mega Evolution, X says, all that's left to
do is take back the stolen Mega Stones. Trova marvels at how much X has
opened up during his journey.

nickname that X
gives to Livolt is Élec (エレク). The
