A beaten and battered N is trying to
befriend Zekrom while the Seven Sages watch. As he tells the
legendary pokemon his dream of a world in which humans and pokemon are
equal, the expression on Zekrom's face changes. Back at the Sekka
Gym, Black finishes solving the ice maze and makes it to where Hachiku
is waiting. They immediately begin their Gym Battle with a match
between Hachiku's Freezio and Black's Emboar. Using the training
it received back at the Cylinder Bridge, Emboar defeats Freezio with a
powerful Fighting-Type move. Hachiku calls on his Vanirich next,
who is able to freeze its opponent after using its Ice Body
Ability to hide. Black calls on his Mun'na next. As the
battle continues, Black asks Hachiku why he's having to go through all
this training. The Gym Leader reveals that he has possession of
the Light Stone and that he and Shaga were hoping Black would
eventually be able to command Reshiram in battle! Before long,
both Mun'na and Vanirich are defeated, leaving only Black's Protoga and
Hachiku's Tsunbear on the battlefield. Meanwhile, over in Souryuu
City, Shaga's called a press conference to announce that the Pokemon
League will start in one week!
Notes Shaga reveals that the Pokemon League was
originally meant to start in three months from now before he decided to
move it up. Coincidentally, the episode of the TV series that
aired the night this issue of CoroCoro
Ichiban! went on sale (BW 085, "Sing Meloetta! The Melody
of Love!!") reveals that the Pokemon League in that series is meant to start in
three months as well.

Shaga's press conference continues as the
Gym Leader adds that even though the amount of time before the League
is now shorter, the number of badges required to enter will remain the
same. Later, Shaga reveals to his assistant that he pushed the
League up to lure the Plasma-Dan out of hiding. Back in Sekka
City, Black's battle with Hachiku is
about to reach its conclusion. Even though Black's Protoga
evolves into
Abagoura, it's still not quick enough to dodge one of Tsunbear's
powerful punches to the face. Thinking the battle's been decided,
Hachiku tells Black to come back anytime for a rematch. He then
hands over the Light
Stone and tells him to resurrect Reshiram and use it to fight the
Plasma-Dan. Just then, Black smiles - Abagoura wasn't
knocked out by Tsunbear's attack after all! Abagoura uses its
powerful jaws to chomp Tsunbear's claws to bits before running up to
its
surprised opponent and finishing it off. With that, Hachiku hands
over the Icicle Badge! When Iris
sees Black hyping himself up for his final Gym match, she guides him
over to a TV so he can hear Shaga's announcement about the League being
pushed
forward. Black is left speechless.

The legendary pokemon Voltus, Tornelus,
and Landlus are coming after Black! With a jolt, the young
trainer wakes up and realizes that he was having a nightmare.
Meanwhile, on the Battle Subway, Nobori and Kudari announce that White
is ready to face them. Later, Black convinces himself that he
needs to capture some legendary pokemon of his own if he wants to stand
a chance against the Plasma-Dan. Virizion is the only one he's
actually encountered so far, so he begins looking for a way to track it
down. Suddenly, the Gym Leader Iris appears and tells him about a
rumor of the pokemon living in nearby Fukiyose Cave. Once inside,
Black meets a young girl named Shohko and her friend, a bourgeoisie
known simply as "Princess." After looking around for a bit, the
three trainers run across Virizion and Terrakion! Black sends out
his Emboar to fight the duo, but the Fire-Type pokemon is no match for
the combination of Virizion's speed and Terrakion's brute
strength. At that moment, Princess stands up and declares that
she will capture the pokemon herself. Meanwhile, Araragi-Hakase's
father begins to tell Iris about how the three pokemon Black is going
after don't trust humans...
Notes The trainers Black
meets in the Fukiyose Cave are Shohko (ショーコ) and Hime (姫), or "Princess."
There is a trainer named Shouko (ショウコ) on Route 14, but she doesn't
have the same pokemon that the Shohko in Pocket Monsters Special has.
This trainer was renamed "Ace Trainer Junko" in the English version of
the games.

"Princess" orders her Kuitaran to attack,
but a third legendary pokemon, Cobalon, appears and knocks them
back. Suddenly, one of the torches Princess was carrying causes
an explosion! One of Shohko's Minezumi is trapped in the blaze,
so the three pokemon immediately get to work. Virizion runs
through the flames and picks up the startled pokemon, Terrakion charges
into a nearby wall to create an opening for everyone to escape, and
Cobalon smothers the remaining flames by smashing a boulder. Once
outside, the legendary pokemon surround the two girls' pokemon and take
them away! Just then, Araragi-Hakase's father and Iris appear and
tell everyone about how the trio doesn't trust humans because of the
terrible things they've done in the past. Black, with the help of
Musha, tracks down the trio and confronts them. He explains that the two trainers care
about their pokemon very much and that their pokemon, in return, want
to be together with them. After silently conferring with each
other, the trio releases their prisoners and disappear. As
Araragi-Hakase wonders whether or not his words really got through to
them, Black realizes that he never actually got around to capturing any
of the legendary pokemon.
Notes Princess' real name
is confirmed to be Trish (トリッシュ). A bourgeoise with the same name
can be fought in Sazanami Town in the games.

As Black begins to freak out, Iris and
Hachiku try to convince him to go ahead and revive Reshiram so he can
use it to convince Shaga to let him join the Pokemon League with only
seven badges. Black, however, isn't convinced that he can do all
that in only two weeks. Meanwhile, Adeku and Renbu meet up with
N. A double battle between Adeku's Baffaron and Chevargot and N's
Archaeos and Hihidaruma begins as Baffaron uses Afro Break on
Hihidaruma. The attack causes considerable damage, so N has his
pokemon go into Daruma Mode. Adeku responds by having his
Chevargot break away from its fight with Archaeos to join Baffaron in
delivering a two-sided attack that knocks out N's pokemon. Back
on the road, Black wishes his Wargle was there with him both it and his
Mun'na are the only ones who can truly understand how he feels right
now. Suddenly, White appears and grants his wish by returning his
Wargle to him! As Black and Iris admire how many pokemon White's
been able to catch, the three of them hear a commotion in the distance
and rush over to investigate. When they arrive, they see that
Adeku's been knocked out!

Adeku comes to and sends out
Agilder and has it use Acid Bomb to knock out N's Archaeos. Black
and the others then look around and notice that while Adeku only has
Agilder left, N still has both Zorroa and Zekrom! As soon as
Black
says Zekrom's name, Reshiram appears from out of the Light Stone, lets
out a fiersome roar, and then retreats back to Black's bag! Once
N's surprise at Black having obtained the Light Stone wears off, he
reveals that he won't be using Zekrom in this
battle; instead, he's going to use the Pokabu that used to belong to
White! Agilder tries to take out Bubu-chan first in order to
prevent it from using its Fire-Type attacks on it but is quickly
overtaken when Zorroa tricks it using its Illusion Ability. Adeku
loses the battle, meaning that N has finally achieved his goal of
overtaking the
Champion! As N congratulates himself, White approaches Bubu-chan
and tells it that she'll support it no matter what it decides to
do. Suddenly, Araragi-Hakase's father arrives on the scene and
asks everyone to help him defeat N so they can find out where
the Plasma-Dan is keeping the Gym Leaders!

Araragi-Hakase's father, along with Black
and White, make quick work of N's remaining pokemon. When the
battle's over, his daughter and Makomo arrive on the scene and recall
how they used to have two sets of starter pokemon set aside for
trainers. A year ago, they say, N came to Araragi-Hakase's
father's laboratory and "liberated" the starter pokemon he had
there! The
Pokabu ran away and the Tsutarja left with N, so Araragi-Hakase's
father took
the Mijumaru and decided to raise it himself. Back in the
present, N uses a Revive on all his
pokemon and prepares to go home. Black steps forward to stop him
but is surprised to see his pokemon hesitate to engage in battle.
Black asks Musha to eat his dreams to figure
out a way out of this, but his pokemon refuses! N tells Black
that his Mun'na has grown tired of his dreams and that the two
of them never really had any real bond outside of that in the first
place. Black
watches as Musha floats away, leaving his party and devastating its
trainer. As N makes his escape, he predicts that Black will
appear before him again with Reshiram by his side.
Notes Top Now that Musha has
left Black, let's take a look at the Dream Eater pokemon and the world
of dreams! This two-page feature goes into Dream Mist, the
ability to see others' dreams (like when Black got a glimpse of N's
childhood back in Volume 44), how Munna uses dreams as its food, and
what the Dream World is. It also offers a profile of both Munna
and the professors researching the pokemon Makomo and Shouko.

and Pokemon Fan are omitted
when those chapters are reprinted in the
graphic novels. This section collects textless versions of those
title pages in a gallery. The title pages collected in this
