Satoshi's leaving the Navel Gym after earning his third Orange League badge when he suddenly rejoins his old traveling companion Kasumi! The two are on the way to Yuzu Island, the site of Satoshi’s final gym challenge, when they end up rescuing the Gym Leader's younger sister, Marie, from the clutches of a thrashing whirlpool. Marie thanks her saviors by guiding them to the Yuzu Gym. There, her older brother Ziggy makes a shocking announcement; he's decided to take Kasumi as his bride! Satoshi ignores all that and remains focused on his original goal, successfully completing both the target practice and dance-off portions of the gym challenge. This grants him access to a three-on-three Pokémon battle with Ziggy to determine both his ability to join the Orange League and Kasumi’s future! Ziggy wins round one when his Eleboo showers Satoshi’s Pikachu with a flurry of Thunder Punches, but Satoshi claims the victory in round two when his Fusigidane uses Sleep Powder to knock out Ziggy's Nassy. The third and final round pits Satoshi's Zenigame against Ziggy's Starmie. The Gym Leader's Pokémon surprises Satoshi with a Thunderbolt attack but Zenigame is able to shake it off and defeat its opponent with a combination of Hydro Pump and Skull Bash. Satoshi wins the Gym Badge and Kasumi’s freedom but Marie is sad Kasumi isn't going to become her big sister after all! Ziggy comes up with a brilliant (?) solution: he’ll dress up as a woman and become Marie’s big sister instead…!?

On Kankitsu Island, Satoshi has entered the Orange League tournament and is already winning his way to the top. A member of the Pokémon League staff tells him that if he wins just one more match he’ll earn the right to challenge Yuuji, the Southern Cross Head Leader, to a final battle. Satoshi’s excited by this news – he’s seen Yuuji on TV before and knows just how strong a Trainer this Kairyu user can be – but his status as the undefeated Head Leader fills Satoshi with a mixture of both dread and anticipation. Satoshi ends up winning his next match and the right to battle Yuuji and so he wastes no time researching his Pokémon to determine which ones he’ll choose for their upcoming six-on-six battle. The day of the big match comes, and so Satoshi and Yuuji take their places in what has become a Rock and Sand Battlefield. Round One: Yuuji’s Metamon vs. Satoshi’s Pikachu! Metamon transforms into Pikachu and proves to be just as strong as – if not stronger than -- Satoshi’s Electric-Type, and so Satoshi sees no choice but to have his Pikachu to destroy the ground below Metamon. Yuuji’s Pokémon is caught off-balance, giving Satoshi’s Pikachu the opening it needs to rush over and tackle Metamon before finishing it off with a powerful Electric-Type attack. The crowd goes wild as the challenger defeats Yuuji’s first Pokémon, but will Satoshi be able to beat the rest and win the title of Honorary Trainer? To be continued!
