"Dawn's Early Night!"
July 28th, 2008
Dogasu @ 14:37 EST -- You'll notice that the timestamp thingee beside my name there now says EST. That's because I'm now in the U.S. for summer vacation.
That's a lot of the reason I haven't updated this site in so long. Preparing to leave Japan for a month-long summer vacation takes a lot of time; I don't know about you, but things like "renewing my visa" and "saying goodbye to friends who I'll likely never see again" takes precedence over "updating my Pokemon fansite." :P
Anyway, I'm finally home and settled in, so I can start updating this thing again. First up, here's "Dawn's Early Night!" Hope you like it!
As far as the edits in "Sandshrew's Locker!" goes, it looks like they're not in the U.K. version. Maybe the copy of the episode I had came from Australia? Does anybody know?
I've also updated the List of Anime Episodes with some new titles. Also, it looks like that third wave of "Best Collection" DVDs here in Japan got an official release date, so I added that on the DVD page for that. I did manage to pick up the second set while I was in Japan, but I didn't even have time to open the boxes, much less look at any of them. I'll be sure to do that when I get back, though.
Speaking of DVDs, I've added new listings for the Diamond & Pearl Volumes 3 and 4 as well as Pokémon All-Stars Volumes 13 and 14. While I was at it, I also whipped up a page for the TV episodes that have been released on Region 2, including information on a two-disc box set coming to Japan in September. Lots of good stuff to empty your wallet as autumn approaches, huh?
Finally, I've updated the Nintendo DS page with English release information for Pokemon Ranger Battnage and the cover art for Pocket Monsters Platinum.
I'm off to the beach for a few days, so, unfortunately, this site won't be updated again for a while. I really, really need to work on that.
"Sandshrew's Locker!" and "Satoshi and Hikari! Head for a New Adventure!!"
July 7th, 2008
Dogasu @ 21:10 JST -- Well...I guess my goal of having an update up before a full week has passed was just barely realized.
This week, I've got the comparisons for "Sandshrew's Locker!" and "Satoshi and Hikari! Head for a New Adventure!!" up for your reading. The first one has what I suspect are some odd country-specific edits while the second one is a clip show that PUSA didn't bother to dub.
Other than that, check out some videos I found on the YouTube. Here's a video of the classic "Batman sings the Jigglypuff song" promo that used to air on Kids' WB!
This next one shows Batman facing off against Golbat.
I miss the old days of Kids' WB!
"A Maze-Ing Race!" comparison, new Region 2 DVDs announced
July 1st, 2008
Dogasu @ 07:05 JST -- Good thing I typed "no promises, though" in my last update, huh?
So the past week was crazy busy for me. It started out with me having to do lots of extra lessons outside of school which really isn't anything to complain about since I get extra money for each one I do. Later in the week, I got sick with some kind of cold...or something. I'm feeling a lot better than I was, but I'm still not at 100% yet...like, I'll wake up each day with one less cold-like symptom but will then develop another one as the day goes on. Might have to go to a doctor if this keeps up because Japanese OTC drugs are wimpy.
So anyways, on to the real reason you checked this front page: the comparison for "A Maze-Ing Race!" is up. Other than an odd screw-up toward the end of the episode, there really isn't too much to say about the English version. I've also updated the List of Anime Episodes with a few more English titles.
In addition, I've updated the Region 2 "Best Collection" DVDs with information on a third set of stand-alone discs. This set of eight discs share a broad theme of "Stories That Remain in Your Heart" and includes episodes like...um...that early Potchama filler. Or the Fuwante episode. And who could forget the heart-rending...Röntora filler episode? It really seems like Media Factory is struggling at this point to come up with themes for these individual releases, and I honestly don't see why they don't just start doing a proper DVD release of this series. It's quite obvious that there is some amount of fan interest in owning the series.
Speaking of these "Best Collection" DVDs, I've added some cover / disc art for the second set of stand-alone discs.
I'll do my best to prevent another week-long break and try to get "Sandshrew's Locker!" up before too long.
