Dogasu's Backpack | Manga Guide | Pocket Monsters The Movie "I Choose You!"

Movie
VS
Manga

While
the movie Pocket Monsters The Movie "I Choose You!" has yet to be released, there's already a big difference between what's presented in the manga and what's been shown in the promotional material for the film so far. The purpose of this page is to highlight that and any other differences that may pop up.

This page will be updated once the movie is released on July 15th.

Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Film

Here are the humans we know who are appearing in the movie, based on the various trailers and other promotional material released so far:

Musashi
Kojirou

And though we haven't actually seen him yet, we've heard Dr. Orchid talking in the trailers so we know he'll be showing up.

Now, for comparison's sake, let's see who's in the manga adapation:

Satoshi
Hanako
Dr. Orchid

...and that's it! Kasumi and Takeshi don't show up in the manga adaptation, sure, but then again nether does Souji or Makoto. The Rocket trio? Not there. Joy? Nope. Cross? Bonjii? MIA.

Mr. Kawamoto's adaptation of Volcanion and the Tricky Magearna also omitted more than half the cast so this actually isn't anything new. That adaptation ended up having a lot of other differences from the movie on which it was based because of those omissions so it's likely this year's adaptation will be equally unfaithful.

More differences will be added once the movie is released on July 15th, 2017.
