The Rocket-Dan's Secret Empire Pilot
April 26th, 2014
Dogasu @ 23:40 JST -- A year ago today the pilot episode of Pokemon Radio Show! The Rocket-Dan's Secret Empire was made available to the public. Today, I take a look at what ended up being the final episode of the radio show released.
The guest in this episode is voice actor Konishi Katsuyuki, a voice actor who's done about a gajillion pokemon voices over the past decade and a half or so. The episode also features a phone call to the chief director of the TV series Yuyama Kunihiko in which he tells us what he thinks about the direction the trio was taken in Best Wishes! Definitely check it out.
Pocket Monsters Special, XY 024
April 22nd, 2014
Dogasu @ 22:16 JST -- One: The episode of Pocket Monsters XY that was supposed to air this week, "The Castle Beneath the Sea! Kuzumo and Dramidoro!!" is being postponed until further notice. TV-Tokyo didn't offer a reason for the postponement but most people are betting it has to do with the recent ferry sinking over in South Korea. The following episode, "The Shouyou Gym Match! Pikachu vs. Chigaurus!!", will be airing in its place.
Cable movie network WOWOW is also going to alter its programming - an April 25th airing of the movie Titanic is getting replaced with 2005 King Kong movie - so it's not just Pocket Monsters that this is happening to.
I'll be putting together a timeline for the episode just like I did for "The Rocket-Dan vs. The Plasma-Dan!" that'll get updated as new information is revealed. Hopefully I'll have that up before too long. In the meantime, the List of TV Episodes has been updated.
Two: Pocket Monsters Special! I've totally been ignoring it lately and so tonight I'm getting all caught up on the XY chapters. Here are summaries of the five chapters I've missed since my last Special-related update in order of release date:
In other Special news, the cover for the first volume of Pocket Monsters Special XY, a volume collecting almost all the CoroCoro Ichiban! chapters released so far, has been revealed.
The listing on Amazon Japan that says the volume will be 192 pages long and the line on the official Pocket Monsters Special website telling us that we can read this volume and then pick up the current issue of CoroCoro Ichiban! to continue the story tells me that this book is going to have the first seven CoroCoro Ichiban! chapters in it. I've seen people comparing this to the mini volumes Viz released of the BW Chapter but this seems like it's going to be as big as any other volume of the series so I'm not sure that comparison is really all that fitting. This not-at-all-mini-volume will be released on April 28th, 2014.

Dogasu @ 22:47 JST -- So apparently it's Easter today? I live in Japan and the holiday has absolutely no presence here so I didn't even know Easter was this week until like Wednesday. So, I thought I'd hastily throw together carefully write up a new episode comparison for you guys to celebrate! Here's a comparison for "Who Gets to Keep Togepi?", which is about eggs so I guess that's vaguely on-topic?
The episode doesn't have a ton going on edit-wise (well, compared to the last one I did, anyway) but I still managed to dig up a ton of neat stuff so it's worth a read.
"The Cocoon of Destruction and Diancie" Updates
April 14th, 2014
Dogasu @ 06:23 JST -- Today let's look at the last few weeks' worth of news for this summer's movie, The Cocoon of Destruction and Diancie.
1) The official website announced that Scandal, a group I've never heard of before but is well known for doing theme songs for various cartoons, apparently, will be doing the theme song for this year's movie. I guess they spent so much on getting Ikimono Gakari for last year's movie that they're having to cut back and get a more niche group for this year's film? The title of the song is Yoake no Ryuuseigun (夜明けの流星群), or "The Early Morning Meteor Shower," and part of the new song will debut in the new movie trailer that's set to come out April 19th.
I've created a page devoted to the song that includes translations of comments the band's made on the official website as well as release information for the song.
2) I've translated the fourth, fifth, and sixth installments in the Location Scouting reports that have been posted on the official site. In these installments Director Yuyama Kunihiko and his team check out the Rideau Canal and Merrickville, the "Jewel of the Rideau." It really sounds like they went to some beautiful places and I can't wait to see how this trip pays off in the actual film itself.
3) The English dub title of the movie has been announced so I've added that to the movie's page. It seems really early for a dub trailer to be out but I'm guessing TPCI wants to get this movie out as fast as they can so they can distribute Diancie to the video games as fast as they can. On a related note, I'm kind of impressed that TPCI is pronouncing a legendary's name correctly for a change! Also, as expected, the Pikachu short was completely ignored as well.
And I think that should be it! As mentioned earlier, a new trailer is set to come out April 19th (that's this coming Saturday) and I'm guessing that's when we'll find out the special guest voice actors for this year's film.
Pocket Monsters XY Special "The Greatest Mega Evolution ~ Act I ~"
April 10th, 2014
Dogasu @ 06:30 JST -- Well it's about time I post something about this, right?
"The Greatest Mega Evolution ~ Act I ~" aired last week and so I've written up a page documenting various things about the special. I've written a number of character bios for the episode as well.
I've also posted the lyrics to the special's theme song Mega V (Mega Volt), a remixed version of the current opening theme to Pocket Monsters XY. I also went back and typed out the lyrics to the full version of V (Volt) since I realized I never got around to ever doing that.
On a completely unrelated note, I've also gone through my "Princess vs. Princess" comparison and fixed a few errors / made a few additions that I didn't think to do at the time I posted it.
Finally, I've updated the List of TV Episodes with the newest batch of titles.
